I'm getting close to Winter in my first year, and I've realized I'm ONE gold-star pumpkin shy of the Quality bundle. Am I just hosed till next year, or is it possible for one to turn up in the merchant or something before then?

You won't get quality crops from the merchant sadly. Just going to have to wait for fall or pray you sold one to Pierre and he tries to sell it back to you, but even that might be forage only. Having no greenhouse for winter 1 is rough but it's not at all an uncommon first experience. You'll make it and there's no real consequences for it. You could use the indoor planter granny gives you and try feeding any leftover pumpkins to the seedmaker.

Dangit. It's not a big deal, just frustrating.

I've finally hit the point where my daily income is just stupid. My animals give me a baseline 10k off milk, mayo and truffles, I've JUST gotten the Greenhouse, and finished the house with the Cellar full of casks waiting for my wine to brew. Just got to up my Oak treefarm's size, because that's the bottleneck on more kegs.

Now I just need a way to not suck at fishing so I can stand a chance of completing the Community Center, because that's all that's left to it.

Nah, Penny's no serial killer. When she snaps, she's gonna kill Pam in a single moment of instinctive violence and everyone's going to have to stand around looking shocked and appalled while quietly being surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Shane only counts because he doesn't have any ambitions, but yeah. Pretty much.

Penny reads to me as the best person among the eligibles, just a huge heart all around and all she wants out of life is a stable loving family, but no way in hell would I marry her--she is going to be a serious ball of neuroses and have a bad abandonment complex all her life, plus Pam makes a way better drinking buddy than mother-in-law. The thought of marrying Sebastian or Abigail and chaining them to the Valley just makes me sad.

Abigail just wants to get away from her parents, not the valley itself. She also mentions she loved exploring the farm before you moved in, as well as wanting to try delving into the Mines, so living on the farm's fantastic as far as she's concerned.

Also age-wise, I took most of them for being mostly about 23-ish on average (maybe 18-20 for Sam and Maru). Just starting their adult lives in earnest, and in some cases it's getting stifling being around their parents.

I think Robin and Demetrius set the bar, because they're probably like late-30's to early/mid 40's. That limits Sebastian to about early-20's at the latest, and if he's about par for everyone else, or slightly older, you can extrapolate the others from there that aren't the three explicitly-stated older bachelors (Elliot, Harvey and Shane).

Can't for the life of me understand why Lewis didn't like my Grange Display this year. He loved last year's and gave me first place after all, but something about this year's really seemed to upset him.

Marnie seemed to like the special purple lettuce I used as the centerpiece, so it can't have been that. Maybe he was just jealous of the Prismatic Shard, or allergic to the Iridium-quality Duck Feather?

Stardew canon pairings, ranked by how much I believe their relationships would last:

6. Alex and Haley. There’s not much holding these two together other than the trope of the lead jock dating the prettiest girl. Plus they both seem very closeted, more so than most of the others.

5. Sebastian and Abigail. Sebastian doesn’t seem to have a lot of patience for Abigail. It seems like the only reason he hangs out with her is because she’s in Sam's band too and is literally the only other alt person in town. Sam/Sebastian is a lot more plausible, because there’s mutual respect and shared interests there.

4. Harvey and Maru. They seem to have a good working relationship, but I feel icky about their age gap and the fact that he’s her boss. Plus Harvey is pretty high strung so I can see him getting freaked out by Maru’s cutting-edge robotics experiments.

3. Sam and Penny. They get along well, but the only mutual interest they seem to have is Vincent. It feels more like they'll get together because everyone else is taken than because they are attracted to each other.

2. Shane and Emily. Two pretty chill, low-maintenance people — at least once Shane gets his drinking under control. Still, they don’t seem to have a lot of mutual interests. I can’t see an atheist like Shane having a ton of patience for Emily’s crystal woo, and I can see Emily getting on Shane's case to take better care of himself.

1. Elliott and Leah. Mutual interest in art, plus similar backgrounds and compatible personalities. These two go together like coffee and oat milk.

Elliot and Leah would probably be super into eachother for about a month, then realize they're TOO alike and break up.

Sebastian and Abigail would either just peter out on its own, or when he inevitably leaves for a life in Zuzu city and she wants to stay in the valley.

Alex and Haley have a loveless marriage out of inertia, have a kid, probably become the next generation of Pam and Penny.

Penny and Harvey, if you gotta pair them all off, would also be the better pairing as she's a caregiver type anyway.

Ditto for Sam and Haru in their contrasts.

Also I'll take a frosty and small fries, please.
