I went back and re-read some of this chapter. Oh god it flows so much better archival-y. And I forgot some things altogether. such as Hijack has a house and likes Wii Sports. And Hijack is totally in the Principal.

So how many twists and reveals has there been in this chapter? Hell, even in the last ten or so pages alone? The police are vampiric thrall-fanboys, the mean teens who were attempting to shoplift are vampires, the fortune teller lady is part of the death cult, werewolves are probably a thing, ALIENS are a thing??? Hijack is alive too??

I mean, the last time present-ish-Max was in the story was in the beginning of 2020. I think following up a "Let's follow one of the side characters" chapter with a "Let's have three pretty long flashback sequences" chapter is a choice, but like, looking at it long-term pacing it feels about right for a Big Flashback Sequence?
