I haven't watched it yet so I can't comment on the quality of the vids themselves but I don't think anyone was going to. I can kinda see why she wouldn't want to see 100 pages of "dont you think its bad for men too you dumb slut men's rights now!" And "bitches back in the kitchen and make a sandwich like my mom"

I feel like the fact that the "Tropes vs Men in Gaming" guy ran off with the money is a heck of a lot more amusing than any Youtube comment on the video would be anyways.

I really enjoy how their credentials are basically "we watch a lot of anime and read a lot of manga".

Oh and:

We've already commissioned some sample pages from Alter Comic studio, and they're ready to go to draw the rest!

No wonder they said each page costs $75, it's all outsourced. Quality of that art certainly doesn't feel like $75 a page though!

To be fair, it probably costs a lot to keep their site up. Not nearly that much though. I'm hoping some of the money went to their charity.

Nah, the argument they used was that they needed money comparable to the amount of revenue they'd lose from not having said ad on their front page.

There is some l33t speak in that Megatokyo kickstarter page. In the year of our lord 2013, someone is unironically using it.

It's not just his art that's perpetually stuck in 2003, I guess!

The Megatokyo Kickstarter has reached all non-porn stretch goals, so he added a bunch more.

quote:

Holy transl33tor PWN buttons... i can't believe that we are ALREADY getting close to funding the 2nd part of the game! I'm... out of stretch goals. ^^;; I had to add more, So... um, i added more.

Now, please note that just simply adding lots of primary playable characters to the game would make the game so overloaded that it would take years to produce - these secondary playable characters are a little like mini games you can play - sort of like short stories. They should still be fun and will be threaded into the story with the primary characters.

Ignoring that incredibly cringeworthy first paragraph, I love how it's going to take him years to write a story that's based on content that already exists because he promised too much. Also, the game is gonna be a trilogy so that's several years to make part 1 of 3.

And despite all that it's not outside of the realm of possibility that he'll reach the porn stretch goal. Oi.

I know this doesn't strictly follow the theme of this thread, but I thought it was still kind of fitting:

Somehow, Tim Schafer's Adventure Game Needs More Money

The 3 million-dollar Double Fine Adventure Game Kickstarter that raised around 8x the original funding threshold turns out to not have been enough money after all.

(Sorry if someone's already posted about this, I CTRL + F'd the last few pages for Double Fine and didn't see anything)

With the budget ballooning like that (and the game being pushed back to 2015) I can really understand why Tim Schafer has trouble getting funding from publishers for adventure games, and it's certainly not because publishers are unwilling to fund anything in the genre.
