When is Komatsu getting some gourmet cells anyway? Not that he needs to become a muscle man or physically competent, but he does kind of need to become some level of superhuman in order to set foot in the gourmet world. Even if Toriko is right there and will never quit him. Hell, once they move onto the gourmet world there's not reason he can't be a superhuman god by human world standards while still being a big ol' bitch by gourmet world standards.

He's gonna have an all weekend training sesh with Setsuno, and come out saying "hey I'm really good at cooking now!!" and suddenly be able to withstand literally any environmental change and also be able to cut the world in twain with his knife.

This is basically going to be the end of Part 1, as well as being a huge escalation of conflict that takes us into the Gourmet World. It's pretty fitting that we're seeing bigger fights that show how the characters have grown so that it's all the more shocking when Coco runs into poison dragons and Zebra has shouting contests with yeti 300 miles in the air (at a place with .01 atmospheres of air pressure)

I really like some of the brutal imagination pages, but I hope it's toned down a lot or even nearly removed in the future. I love the idea of Toriko seeing a big beast and having an image of him being torn to shreds and saying "wow this guy's strong" but using it as the key mechanic of the fight has made the actual fighting boring.

I mean, holy loving poo poo. What the hell kind of things can Frohze do? What the hell will Toriko be doing by the later arcs? :wtc:

Also: Jiro is loving awesome. :kamina:

Eh, if anything we now have something close the the upper bounds of the universe defined, and now we're just on our way to the characters being there

Yasser Arafatwa posted:

The problem here is who is powerful enough to school Setsuno like that and who would have reason to impersonate Frohze? It just makes more sense that it's actually her. Maybe if it was someone Toriko was fighting, or any of the four emperors for that matter, I could see that being the case, but I don't really see who else it could be at this point or how it'd fit into the narrative.

Yeah the two things we know about the character are that they know the personality-changing cut and they're evil-Frohze. It's safe to assume that either there's some strangeness here or someone just used that technique on them until we get a twist

Nah it's definitely gonna be that he's just the manifestation of a pure, innocent heart. That's still really anime and it makes all these big grody musclemen being all over him that much more... something.

This is probably it. As far as we can tell the vast majority of people are just normal real world people, so the combination of lots of bishokukai leaving, parts of the world getting randomly nuked, and the fact that even the most basic ingredients are giant murderous hellbeasts means that they just don't have any way to get and distributes food to the billions of people in the torikoverse.

A few chapters ago that was raised as a real theory though. The Gourmet World is a weird-rear end landmass that got attached to real Earth somehow.

It would make entirely too much sense too. The Toriko world is just our continents pasted onto part of a planet that's like 10x the size, and the rest of the planet is where all the good food is, and the human world has some stuff that's probably adapted from that. It fits in completely in tone and reason with the story that the Torikoverse is one where Earth smashed into Gourmet Planet or whatever.

I've noticed that at this point I'm more disappointed week to week if I don't remember to read Naruto first, just because I'll finish the Naruto chapter and say "wow, nothing happened :geno: "
