It's still fairly unique. Her design is fairly good too. She hasn't had a real fight for a while though. I've already forgotten what the last arc was but I remember being similarly disappointed. Also the firepants look is boring as poo poo. When was the last time she actually made good use of her armor change?

Akamatsu learned 1/3 of the way through and dropped down to occasional panty shots (except with SA favorite Rakan who somehow never takes flak for it,) while FT has become increasingly gross with the angles and torture porn especially with Ezra, which is particularly egregious when she's supposed to be the strongest guild member but personality-wise has become a terrible female stereotype pining after Gellal and being S&Med naked twice in a row now. The highlight of FT was probably the arc that ended with a bunch of crystals and Ezra beating the crap out of a non-female opponent, and I doubt Mashima is going to reverse the trend when he's started the slow descent of even including Wendy in the fanservice menu after her being immune for the few years after she was introduced.

Makes me sad because some parts of the action are good, the pacing sometimes is excellent (when they broke into the demon stronghold) but then it just gets thrown sideways. Natsu rampaging has never actually gone to completion, it's always met by a strong enemy who overpowers him, then something happens and they fight again this time FOR MY FRIENDS.... comeon just once bring out the rear end whooping without friends bullshit. Maybe if he wasn't such a 1D character we'd actually get something.

A lot of indications that this could be a good arc: Ezra getting her armor back -> remaining relevant past the initial fight and not being locked into a sex dungeon(?) team up with Cana -> 2v2s(?) Lucy's mom -> PLOT(!?) Can't wait to see how hard Mashima's going to dash those hopes

The art stepped up again but the content is garbage. Every close up is a crotch shot, Wendy getting punching bagged, Erza still sticking with that garbage costume that doesn't do anything. Remember her early fights when she could magichange on the fly to adapt to fights? Mashima doesn't either. Also lol at Erza not winning this fight despite supposedly being the strongest, you know the "kill" is going to Jellal.
