Chance II posted:I, Chance II, Oath an Infinity Tohaa Spec-ops and three Kamael troops for May I'm "Bonus Style" Oathing one Clipsos Infiltrator, Sakiel Regiment, and Ectros Regiment from Corvus Belli's Tohaa faction of Infinity. With these models, that would round out the Tohaa Starter Pack so would that count as painting a team?

I'm declaring this Oath for May Complete! And here are the Detektiv's Journal progress shots for my initial Oath. I managed to loose the second shot for my bonus Oath unfortunately. Well I wasn't planning on it but I guess my Bonus Style Oath would qualify for Speed Painting. Start Finish This is also a Group Theme entry with the the Tohaa Starter box units painted in a unified color scheme. They also play as a team on the board. Parts List Since I bought paint with my Reaper Miniatures gift cert won in the last Oath thread, let me tell you what I used. Stormy Grey basecoat with Cloudy Grey Highlight Pure White highlight on white primer Golden Yellow Burning Orange highlighted with Fireball Orange Muddy Brown with Rust Brown drybrush for the bases And Tanned leather for the jacket. I used Nuln Oil from GW as a wash because it is liquid talent. Everything else is from the Reaper paint line. And a Double the fun! for all of this. krushgroove posted:1. I would say this is fine. The rules don't make a distinction between doing one-time bonuses for the original oath or for additional oaths, and if the effort is put in the reward should be given. Sorry, I wasn't trying to skate by or anything I just realized when I was posting my Oath completeds that I had happened to speed paint my additional oath around the same time that I realized that I had saved over one of my progress shots for the add on guys. Thanks for clarifying things though!

bunnyofdoom posted:Secondly, for the deketuv's journal, can it be battle damage on the base? By that I mean, I've model my command squad as if they're in a fuel dump, hiding among barrels with bullet holes in them and the promethium leaking out. I'm thinking for my oath to add a heavy weapon team and an adviser, and I was wondering if I did the same to the scenery on their bases if that would count. I can post example pictures when I get home. I was wondering about this as well as I was planning to have enemy wreckage scattered on my flying bases. Also, I'm really digging all the extra monthly prizes this year. Thanks Springer-Pinsel!

Some wip shots of part of my Oath. This used to be an Ork Dakkajet but after seeing a very nice looking mustang conversion in the 40k thread I decided to convert it into an Imperial Guard Thunderbolt. Still need to do some detail work and weathering but I'm pretty pleased with how it looks so far. Looking at the two valkyries I have left to do for this month, I kinda wish I had an airbrush.

I, ChanceII, declare this Oath Complete! I painted some small arms damage on one of the Valkyries wings and chopped up some spare Eldar Falcon hulls to glue onto the bases for Battle Damage Detektuv's Journal. And I suppose I did the opposite of battle damage on the converted Thunderbolt by scraping off all the orky stuff and re-imperializing it. I don't if the size makes these guys qualify for Themed Group as they are painted in a Tallarn Army Scheme. If not, then no biggie. Also, I guess I'll submit this as my Get Based Out Entry since it used up the last of my Eldar wreckage. Backstory The 631st Tallarn Airwing fly some of the last of the Sabre pattern Thunderbolt assault jets, due to the age of the design and the the fall and subsequent looting of the the manufactoriums still producing the aircraft by Orks centuries ago. The 631st take great pride in their high kill to loss ratio and take particular pleasure whenever they down one of the bastardized jets fielded by the Orks. The Sabre Pattern Thunderbolt boasts a potent combination of speed, maneuverability, and fire power that meshes perfectly with the Tallarn battle doctrines of lightning strikes and rapid redeployment. Unfortunately, each time a Sabre is shot down, fewer and fewer return to the skies, causing the 631st to be much smaller than usual and forcing them to be used primarily for surgical strikes and fast escorts.

Brock Samsonite posted:Woah, that converted flyer looks loving awesome Chance. Thanks! I saw a similar conversion linked in the 40k thread awhile back and it turns out that it is a pretty easy conversion. Just a little trimming and sanding and not being afraid to ruin the kit. Since the real thunderbolt is both triple the cost of the materials I used for the conversion (Ork dakka jet kit off ebay and Valkyrie cockpit bits) and a little old and boxy looking for my tastes, I'd rather field a squadron of Sabres over the real thing.

krushgroove posted:^^^ make sure with Leperflesh, he is The Scribe of the Spreadsheet In that case can I use these guys? The only before pic I could give you is a shot of my bits box since they are made from bits from multiple kits and greenstuff. Otherwise I can just wait until some bits I ordered show up and use them for the journal.

The necromancer dude has an arm swap and a weapon swap while the dregs are a collection of various arms, legs, and accessories glued onto greenstuff sculped torsos and slightly carved and reshaped heads but I'll just use the incoming dudes to make things easier and be able to show my work process, no problem.

I, Chance II, Oath Three total conversions Mordheim Dregs, one Priest of Sigmar, Four Witch Hunters, and two Aspiring Champions. All bits are of Games Workshop origin. These Empire flagellents will become Cult of the Possessed Aspiring Champions after I do some head swaps and change their flails to great axes. Another Flegellent becomes my Sigmarite Priest after cutting and replacing his torso adding a hammer to an armored arm and cutting the stocks from his head and arms.

I got mine from Hong Kong a couple years ago but you can find the set on Amazon for pretty cheap typing "metal slug model" or the like. There are two styles of Slug, a Jet, and a camel and each comes with an on foot character from the game.

I've been using the brushes I won on this month's Oath and I've really enjoyed them. I can't say that I have had a chance to get much use out of the double ended feature and I've never used high quality brushes before but these have been a real step up from the army painter brushes I normally use. I do miss the larger handles of my army painter brushes but the new brushes seem to hold paint and keep a nice spring to them without frizzing out and that is important to me since I'm pretty hard on my brushes in general.

ChanceII says this Oath for August is Complete! I'm calling this tank Napoleon. This guy is my Box Art entry. The Detektiv's Journal is the mud stains on this guy's cloak and the singed sleeve on the plasma gunner. The five Imperial guardsmen are my Themed Group for this month.
