I am not sure if Trion has a secret project they are working on or just putting the development into 3.0, but it's been sparse outside of a new tier of raids that few people can see. I log in every now and then to see if there have been any cool outfits or things, but it seems to be on cruise control. I'd buy the new souls and play around with them, but 5k credits is pretty steep

I guess make sure you are looking at the correct region, we are on Deepwood. If you are certain it is the same account and you know what shards they were on, file a ticket.

You can't buy BiS gear in Rift, the best you can do is dungeon gear or maybe tier 1. The overall population is healthy and it's a great f2p model, but the goon raiding groups fell apart and you won't see enough people on to run raids. If you end up getting serious into raiding then you might want to move to a guild dedicated to it.

Rift has probably the best F2P model out there. It has a healthy population, but mainly of casuals and raiders, and not very many goons. I beta tested the expansion and the water elements are really cool, like magic is holding back the water in spots and you can just jump into a wall of water and start swimming.

Zoness what are you playing these days? I'll admit that I haven't really kept up with the pre-3.0 changes. AA took a lot of the heat away from rift's expansion. But hey, it's possible that the AA money gets invested over to rift. More likely they develop a new game though.

A new thread for the expansion release would be a good idea, but it should probably be started by someone who is actively playing the game and not myself. Or if you guys want stuff added to this op, just post it and I will add it in.

The guild is pretty much dead, I will happily hand off leadership to someone who is still playing. The game itself isn't dead, seemed like a solid population when I messed around with nightmare tide.

neogeo0823 posted:So how do you level up more than your initial 3 souls? Like, what if I get to level 50 or 60 or whatever and suddenly decide I wanna level up the bard soul for whatever reason? Do I basically have to figure out which souls I want early on and stick with them, or can I level them all independently? Souls aren't leveled individually, you get all of them (well, all but the expansion soul) at the start. As you level you will expand the amount of roles you have, and each role (think build) is a set of 3 souls that you have put points into. It's really a great build system, you can change at any time out of combat.

neogeo0823 posted:After finding the capital city and purchasing a new role, I think I get it. So now the question is what role should I choose for my 2nd one? I've got Dervish as my primary cookie cutter role, but I chose it pretty much solely on the fact that it sounded neat. So far it's served pretty well in the quests that I've been doing, so I guess I'm looking at for a role that's completely different, just to see how much the game changes. Anyone have any suggestions? The prebuilts are there to help guide you, to get you into the teens and 20's as a decent build without you getting too exposed to the wide expanse of the soul system. I would suggest one role be your solo questing build, one role being ranged damage for instant adventures (do them, great exp), and maybe one for dungeons and such. Use the class guides on the rift forums to help with leveling builds.

neogeo0823 posted:Once I pick a new role, can I change it, or do I have to buy a completely new role? Like, if I pick Riftstalker as my 2nd role, and then decide that I don't like it later, can I change it to Demolition Specialist, or do I have to buy a 3rd role and assign demo to that? Each role is a unique build...role 1 could be a bard mix of bard, riftstalker, ranger Role 2 could be a tank build of riftstalker primary, with a few points in bard and nightblade role 3 could be a ranger build of primary ranger, marksmen, and some bard. Each role can be a mix of whatever combo of 3 souls you want, they are each unique with their own hotbar and you can swap between them whenever out of combat. With addons you can even autochange gear and wardrobe when changing roles.

neogeo0823 posted:Right, but what I mean is that I only have enough money to buy 1 role right now. I want to know if, once I buy that role and pick which souls go into it, will I be able to change it, or do I have to buy and assign a whole new role? Class trainers will reset the points assigned in your role for a cost, but it's pretty cheap. When there are zero points assigned, you can swap souls around as you like.

We had so many goons in rift there had to be 3 guilds IIRC. Plus there really isn't another game to go to right now. Off topic: Wildstar is dead, Rift is dead, what are goons playing? Elder Scrolls? Goons abandon a game after a month and declare it dead no matter what pretty much. Last night in GW2 the 2 goon guilds had about 90 people on between them, and I think FFXIV has really high numbers too. I think GW2 is the best value out there, but it's a bit of a change from the trinity and raiding.

Devilian was fun, but I just can't get used to the top down view. You want AA to fail, but it makes good money and will do so while games with great f2p models like trove and devilian struggle. The more p2w your model is, or harsh of a f2p system, the more money you make. The goon ideal of a system doesn't actually work. The demand for rift to go f2p killed it, but it had a good 3 years and that's a lot more than most.

That's industry standard though, to advertise things with an expansion that won't be there at launch but will be included later. GW2 did it with HoT, WoW's Legion raid wasn't ready at launch, and FFXIV probably had heavensward stuff that came out down the road. But I'm not sure why this is surprising or shady? This is a 6 year old game that is not going to get new traffic and going to squeeze the people who still want to play it, otherwise the only option is to shut it down. Either the people playing will like it enough to pony up, or shutdown will come.
