Am I gimping myself horribly if I pick up, say, Two-Handed/Electricity? I know healers are generally supposed to go for fast-hitting combo builders, but I love the strong "smash" feeling of Two-Handed.

Why nobody hasn't ripped off the idea of weapon attack combos combined with skills I've no idea.

I suspect that it's simply because it isn't an industry standard. It's a lot like the case of Guild Wars 1: the developers who made it had never designed an MMO before, and therefore came at it with a bunch of new ideas (the limited skill system, low number of levels, no gear progression, mission-based leveling structure, fashion-based economy, etc.). To date, almost none of these ideas have been replicated in any other game, despite GW1's relative success, and I put the blame at the feet of the rigidity of design ideas in the industry. Most of the MMOs being developed are being developed by industry veterans, and sticking with traditional ideas (hotbar-based combat, possibly with a few action elements thrown into the mix) is not only conceptually easier but a better sell when looking for investors.

I agree that it's a real shame, though. I adore the combat system of this game, but I'm not a big superhero fan aesthetics-wise. My "ideal" game is one that copies a lot of the basic structural elements of GW1 combined with the combo-based action gameplay of DCUO.
