Started playing TOG last night and went on a raiding binge all around Europe. Can't decide which was more fun, raiding the Vatican or sacking Constantinople. Either way I'm positively swimming in gold now, time to go collect holy sites and reform the Norse religion. For Odin!

kingturnip posted:It's actually one of the easiest starts. If you choose the ambition 'Become King', you've got enough manpower on your side to start Subjugating one/two province Counts, and the ambition lets you do that non-stop until you can afford to create the title. You probably don't even need to conquer them all, since I found a few would accept Vassalisation. Speaking of , after founding the Kingdom of Norway and claiming Iceland for myself, I declared five different pagan invasions of different counties in Ireland simultaneously, shipped ~3k vikings over, and in the span of about a year carved a blood-soaked swath across Ireland. Round two is coming tonight to claim a few more, found the Kingdom of Ireland, and take the entire island. Reclaim the north for the Allfather

This gets even more amazing if you have a large enough warchest (from raiding) to then buy a load of mercs. What do I need to do to get a Planned Invasion CB? I've been wanting one to try to expand further but I don't know how to do it.

Wait, there's a 40 holding limit on your holdings + target holdings? Ugh, no wonder I'm having trouble finding an invasion, guess I'll stick to fabricated + de jure claims mainly then.

Oh what the gently caress. In my current game I'm trying to destabilize Lotharingia in order to take the last holy site the Norse religion is missing, so I figured I'd go and try to kill the king. His name is King Louis II 'the Cruel' of Lotharingia, so I figured this should be easy to find backers for my plot, but no. Despite being a cruel depressed homosexual kinslayer, he is loved by all of his vassals except one, the mayor of a small city no one gives a poo poo about. What the gently caress Crusader Kings

Lotharingia used to be a super power, covering roughly the territory of the HRE in 1066 and reaching all the way down to the tip of Italy. I successfully assassinated the king, splitting the country into two: Lotharingia is the north half, Italy is the south half. I declared a conquest of Zeeland, raised the levees of Norway and Ireland, and sailed south. By the time I landed my 7k soldiers, Lotharingia had somehow created a 15k doomstack that marched in. Now I'm trying to kill the new king of Lotharingia seeing as his heir is a 4 year-old girl. I just want this loving county

There's one last Khazar duke in 1066 for players who don't have TOG. For those who do, there's also the Turkic Khazar Khaganate, which admittedly problem has more than one ruler. That's still a pretty underwhelming number especially for players who don't have all the DLC.
