 How do you trigger raiding/looting? I tried looking under Declare war, but all I found were conquests.

e: Found it. Toggle Looter icon on the unit screen.

You can, the only difference is that you will be able to play as Pagans but not as a Republic whereas your friend will be able to play as a Republic but not as a Pagan, and so on depending on what DLC you personally own. The only exclusive content I think is being able to start at 871(?) with the Old Gods DLC, so if your friend does not have that you will be forced to start in 1066 or later.

Yes, as long as the titles are not equal or greater than that of your liege - i.e. if you are a direct vassal of the HREmperor, creating a King-level title is fine but you cannot start your own empire until you are independent.
