Star War Sex Parrot posted:It has nothing to do with power. The 3rd gen iPad doesn't have the new network chipset to support AirDrop. Absolutely correct. The newer broadcom chipset allows airdrop to create and connect to an adhoc network connection between devices for airdrop. Jailbreakers will likely enable it so that you can airdrop when you're on the same wifi as friends, but the Apple version requires a direct wifi connect to the device.

Residency Evil posted:drat, t-mobile is playing hard ball. Apparently they're going to be offering the iPads on their no-contract contracts. Buy the iPad, get a free 200 megs, the option to buy unlimited week passes for vacation, and spread the cost out over 2 years with 0 interest. I was on the fence about it, but it looks like a 32 gig lte is in my future. Now just to decide on air versus mini. Yep going to do the same - was going to get a wifi - but no point in not getting in on that free sweet LTE.

Jet Ready Go posted:Yes. For sure. I have a 16GB iPad Mini and a 32GB iPad 2 and.. although I thought "Oh why do I need to buy a 32? I'm going to stream every loving thing anyway!" I find it ended up severely restricting the amount of pictures I could carry on it. I love photography and showing people pictures I took on my iPhone is silly. Basically I can load up maybe 2-3 movies and I'm pretty much shot for space. As much as I would like to get 16gb again, its so frustrating deleting things constantly whenever something new and cool comes out. Definitely going 32gb this time around.

The Anandtech review pushed me towards the full size over mini -- that and I want it asap, and don't want to get stuck ordering the last week of November, and waiting until late December for a delivery.

Ordered them through in store pickup using the apple App Store app. Great experience placing the order, well see how picking them up goes.

You'll see it at the bottom (hidden by keyboard while it's initially up). I definitely like it less in ios7 than how it was previously.

Verizon ipad is the "best" because you get the Verizon sim if you're ever going to use it and should be white listed. You can buy an att or tmobile sim and they work perfectly fine. Took me two minutes to swap the verizon card for a tmobile card and get it setup.

dzarc posted:I don't know how to the phrase the question in a Google search. So how high of a pixel density do you need so that you can't see them anymore no matter how close you are to the screen (to the naked eye)? Would jamming a 4k display on a 10" or even 12" tablet be overkill? That would probably do it - but it would absolutely destroy battery life (for no realistic gain for 95-99.9% of the use cases).
