Kobayashi posted:I bought the original Mini shortly after it came out, dropping it and cracking the screen days later. The upgrades look great, but with the 6+, I'm strongly considering downsizing to one device. If Apple had only made a "normal" sized iPhone, it would have been a no brainer: New iPhone and new Mini. I don't understand Apple these days. Demand for giant phones, which are useless to me for things like Procreate, which I will be buying an Air2 with. I upgraded my Mom's iPad2 to a Mini because she has arthritis and the mini is better suited for her reading/etc whereas a 6+ would be too big to upgrade from her 5. More choices are better as long as it's within a tight range, really (no one wants Apple to return the shittastic 1990's though).

I use it with the native app ProCreate, but am incredibly happy with using Astropad to connect my iPad to my Mac and using Clip Studio Paint with it. This is great when I want to get away from my Cintiq and draw on my couch or something. I'm a loving man child so I like reading comics on the Pro; the bigger screen allows me to see a full page without it being shrunken down. And reading books on it is nicer as well (I'm getting loving old and need bigger type ) Cons: loving expensive for the 128gb version. I mean, it really depends on what you need it for, and honestly unless one is an artist, I have a hard time telling people to get a Pro over an Air, but some people just like a bigger screen.

Anyone go from a 10.5 to an 11 and notice enough of a change to justify it? I'm still on my old 12.9 and first gen Pencil but I can't picture using a smaller iPad because my main art app is Clip Studio Paint, which has a full menuriffic interface like Photoshop. Procreate and Sketchbook do a great job of getting the gently caress out of your way so you can just draw and I can see that being fine on a smaller iPad, but I simply can't give up how loving good CSP is in comparison, so I'm going to upgrade to the current 12.9 and 2nd gen Pencil this coming year.

It mutes it slightly to be honest, but since my iPad is 80% used for Clip Studio Paint maybe I just subliminally don’t care as much. I guess you have to figure what’s more important to you: razor sharp video or not feeling like you are skating plastic on ice while you draw. I personally can live with a very very slight occasional color aberration but I will not go back to naked Pencil on Screen drawing.

I have a Shure MV88 microphone that I use with my iPhone for video calls, IG casts, etc. and it's great. I am wanting to use my iPad Pro (2018 model iirc) for video calls and wanted to use the Shure mic for better sound quality, but the iPad isn't recognizing it at all. Are there problems using microphones with iPads? I purchased a new USB mini to USB C cable and it works fine otherwise, so that's not the problem. Am I missing some kind of permission in the setting somewhere?

There is simply no better digital art device than an ipad with the 2nd gen pencil (although Clip Studio Paint is my prefered 2D app of choice over ProCreate - try out their free trial to see how it clicks with you. I find the brush engine to be far, far superior in every way and the fact that you can now import your favorite Photoshop brushes makes it even more compelling). I agree that the Air is the way to go if it comes to budget reasons. Get the most recent one you can afford - the advantage over a mini is more screen space. You will find yourself wanting to be able to see your artwork larger than a pocketbook, and pinching and zooming constantly will get really tiresome. Of cource I have a 2019 12.5" Pro and wish that Apple would cater to my desire of making a goddamned 22" Desktop iPad for art reasons that would destroy Wacom.

I've always used a Paperlike and I've changed nibs twice, and one of those was because I dropped my pencil and it landed on the nib tip and damaged it. Same reason I always used the felt tip on my Wacom Cintiq's pen- plastic against smooth glass feels like rear end when drawing.

Hey I know there are more of a few of you here who use your iPad for drawing and I just got this thing last week and it is really amazing. It makes the surface much nicer to draw on giving space to wrest your arms, it has foldable legs, and a carrying handle. HIGHLY worth it. https://shop.sketchboardpro.com/

I've got some extra PayPal cash and I need to stop my neck from hurting anyway so... My only little complaint about it (which is nitpicking honestly) is that the space for the power cord to fit in will fit Apple's cable but not many third party ones. I have a monoprice USB-C cord that I got for the combo of price and length (6') and the plastic bit around the plug of the cable is too long to fit properly in the board's slot.

Question: I've never pre-ordered an apple product with a trade in with the exception of iPhones which are swapped the same day so no time without my phone has happened. I am planning on upgrading my 2019 12.9" Pro to the new version on Friday via pre-order, but will be putting my older model up for trade-in. Due to the fact that I use my ipad for work and can't be without it, do I send in my old model once I receive the new unit and then once it's received get refunded the amount of trade in?

Yeah I might just go in-store after all on physical launch day to see if I can hopefully get a unit I'd like (512gb model) and see if they can take the trade in then.

Has it been confirmed that certain Pro models will have more RAM than others? I heard something like the 1TB model will have more- since I'm using it for art the extra RAM would be really welcome, but I don't know if I can spend another $400 on it, especially since 512gb suits me fine for storage.
