The Retina screen would be nice but if I wait till next year it'll have touch ID too!

All she really does is use it for keeping recipes on, a few organisational apps and apps that arent available on Android, and watching tv/films when we've been on holiday. iOS 7 runs fine on the first iPad mini. I have no issues whatsoever. That said, if you're getting an iPad mini now, the retina is a better choice. The screen is a vast improvement and the processor will ensure the retina mini remains more future proof than the original mini.

Its the one thing Blackberry got right: There's a work part of the phone and a home part of the phone. You can go work somewhere else without losing the home part of your phone. I may be wrong but I'm under the impression that enterprise setup on iPhone requires your work's IT dept to be able to wipe the entire phone if you leave. Then again, Apple has never seemed all that serious about Enterprise solutions, they could take it if they wanted it.

I'll be at 50 - 60% after a lazy Sunday morning of browsing the internet, and SA, 4-5 hours. Probably replacing it this year with a new mini if they add the fingerprint sensor (I know...but those with a 5S understand) so I can also hop on the Retina bandwagon. Also hoping for more RAM.

It's a little jittery when going into multitasking but otherwise just the fact that Safari minimizes when scrolling (almost like the iPhone but not quite!) and the predictive typing are worth it. Haven't played with the other features yet. iBooks and podcasts go straight into the "never use" folder. It's no iOS 7 on the iPhone4, that's for sure.

Took advantage of lower prices to upgrade from an OG mini to Retina. I don't know how I lived with the non-Retina screen. Question though, I noticed it comes with a new charger. With my original mini, the charger was the same as my iPhone charger and charged fine. This one looks like a smaller version of the old iPod charger. Can I still use the iPhone charger? It looks like it works, I assume it just charges slower?

Guy opened the box, flicked it on to make sure I'd wiped it and disabled the icloud lock, gave it a quick look over. Sign two things saying I gave over the ipad for moneys, they activated the gift card. Walk over to the Apple dept and bought my iPad. Totally painless, way less worry than going through Kijiji. EDIT: They were totally out of iPad Air 2's, but I played with the one on display. Holy hell, I was definitely tempted until I found out they were out of stock. Those things are so thin! Wanted to move it back to my PC to watch it (bigger screen) and you can't. I always assume however, anything dumb to do with licensing and what you can/can't do with a file isn't Apple's fault: its the movie/music studios. Why rentals can't just "be in the cloud" is baffling to me.

Feenix posted:I iOS9'd my iPad Air. Haven't done much with it yet but the tips app mentioned sliding from the right edge to bring in another app. 1. See the horizontal bar at the top of the sidebar? Swipe down to get all the app tiles again. It seems to default to the last used app. 2. I see it being more useful for stuff like having iMessage open while using Safari, or having Notes open. Yeah, using Safari in the sidebar is kind of useless. Also, why is Music not an available sidebar app? That seems like kind of a glaring omission. EDIT: Hmm...already noticing a potential problem with the sidebar-multitasking as apps have been updating for iOS9 over the course of the day...there's so many apps in there its going to become unmanageable to find the apps you DO want. As far as I can tell, its an all or nothing proposition with the sidebar...its either off or on with every app that it supports in the list. Has anyone found if there's a way to disable on an app by app basis the apps that appear in the sidebar? I can't find anything in settings. Really all I'd use would be Trillian (not supported yet), iMessage, Notes and Music. Settings > General > Multitasking > Show in-sidebar > <List of Apps supported by sidebar> would be perfect. I'm pretty sure Apple's going to adopt a tick-tock update to the iPad line (maybe a tick-tock-tack???) based off of the fact that people hold on to tablets so long. The Air will likely see an update next year, the mini after that. God knows what they're going to do with the pro-line. That might mess up everything.

How's iOS9 on the iPad mini 1? Not asking for myself but for my mum. She loves her iPad mini, and I'm hoping the only issue she'll see is a bit of slowness for a day or two while Spotlight re-indexes. She hasn't updated yet, but she's very good at updating the moment the notification pops up on the settings icon.

I only noticed cause Apple Music does a piss poor job of recovering from a dropped connection. Maybe this is more of an "iOS in general" question, but has anyone noticed that while using Purify, a lot of sites in Safari aren't loading properly anymore? They either load no images (AV Club) or some but not then no more when scrolling (too many examples to count). I'm wondering if this is some larger step in the great ad-blocker arms race, or my Purify app has gone crazy. I switched back to Crystal (turned off Purify), and everything seems better.

No idea how much longer it's going to be supported, it is getting iOS 11. For all the above activities, it's fine. Some games have slow initial load times (nothing dramatic) but once they're up they're smooth. The biggest thing one would probably notice is app reloads if using the app switcher a lot. Also the mini 2/3 doesn't get the full split screen stuff the other iPads got in iOS 10, it does get that weird sidebar thing. Oh, occasionally websites may struggle, usually infinite scroll ones. Oh, it does support an ad blocker, so that's a huge plus for browsing. I hope the mini line hasn't been dropped, it really is the perfect iPad form factor.
