I just discovered the Aprilia 660 bikes exist. So depressing it's a p-twin Also picked up the CBR from the garage which is now cured of its fireball tendencies.

Phy posted:Loose chips in the middle of the road, on a curving, downhill, elevated on-ramp, where people are accelerating when there's little traffic, has got to be a fatal highside risk and I'm actually kind of incensed about it. Someone could legit get killed by this and I'm gonna phone the city's 311 line later this morning. That reminds me of a terrifying autoroute intersection I crossed near Milan. It is a curve through 90 degrees on an elevated road, and has solid metal plates which I guess are expansion joints every ~20m. The bike was obviously banked over a bit and at each joint the front then back tyre slipped sideways a decent amount. It must be awful in rain.

Yeah it was the same for my YTZ7S - actually a bit more but the prices seem to have come down a bit. I got a non-Yuasa one, hopefully won't regret it when I fire the bike up again (or not)

There's a junction near me where there are multiple stop lines. Heading south you have to stop at the earlier one if you haven't crossed it when the traffic light changes for the pedestrian crossing. Many junctions in residential areas have these markings. Nobody understands whose turn it is so everyone dithers until someone goes for it. wow my most boring post ever

Slavvy posted:I test them all. As I understand it this is a Japanese bike thing. Not going to be a problem for me anyway. In another country I got up to 270ish but it was very windy and I didn't like it very much. Particularly because as soon as I turned my head at all the wind caught it, so you really have to get behind the fairing.

Slavvy posted:Oh it definitely is, it's just that most of them are actually limited instead of just not letting you see how fast you're going. Recent Fireblades cap the display at 299 as well. This is the current one at 299 in 4th gear e: 348kph though I guess a limiter could have been removed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ko7ENRRxFVI knox_harrington fucked around with this message at 16:45 on Jul 17, 2022 |

Shelvocke posted:In my experience, as the relative wealth and value of vehicle goes up, so does the entitled indignation about being split by a motorcycle, or anyone, really. Ehh maybe. Bimmer driver or Fiat driver, everyone will pull over for you in Italy and Spain. Switzerland everyone is too incompetent so I'm just happy if they don't just veer off somewhere. In most of London everyone expects bikes, filtering/splitting is the norm and safe, all good. Then you drive down Whitechapel (not at all a wealthy area) and the normal rules of traffic don't apply and cars can come from any direction whether there's a junction or not. Drive up to Birmingham and there are way fewer bikes, and even though the driving is generally OK it's way more dangerous, people just aren't used to looking out for bikes and filtering past people is an unwelcome surprise.

For some reason the Fireblade has the indicator switch and the horn swapped from what I'm used to and I found that surprisingly difficult to adjust to. Also the trigger thing that should flash the lights is a lap time button which is annoying.
