Learned about Infinity from the painting and modelling thread. Just finished reading this whole thread front to back plus the rules. Decided to build an ALEPH army and proxy an Adriana army with some 40k chaos cultists and try to introduce this to my group to replace 40k kill team. Good job, thread!

Combined Army doesn't have a write-up in the OP, but I like the look of the shasvastii (sp?) models. How are their rules for a beginner in a meta with all newbies? I'm assuming they havw their own sectorial and are focused on LI and camo from the description on the site?

Is the shasvastii EF starter bix any good? I don't really like most of the models and people are hating on the seed soldiers as far as I can tell.

Holy crap, deciding on which faction to pick is hard! I can't decide between shasvastii, kazaks, ISS, ALEPH or nomads (non-furry sectorial) I think I need to see if there are actual players in my area first.

Is there a point in getting the rule book at this time with 3rd ed around the corner? Also, whats in the human sphere book? Paradiso is a campaign book right? Also, making a list with ALEPH is hard when half the pts value is three guys. VVV Where are the stats and such? In the rule book? I prefer to be able to flip in a book when learning a new game instead of just using the list building apps. Not a viking fucked around with this message at 20:55 on Jul 21, 2014 |

The army lists are scattered through 3 books and some newly added online-only units, so if you insist on using book lists you're in for a hard time. Use the apps. I just like to have the rules easily available instead of just a bunch of numbers and acronyms which I'm unfamiliar with until I'm not any more.

Sephyr posted:Bostria mentioned something about camo being handy for taking out heavily-armored targets, but didn't specify how. I'm really curious now. I think he just meant that in 2nd ed the first strike from camo was only useful if you actually killed your target, so camo'ed models would prefer to attack soft targets that they had a greater chance of killing before they could retaliate. I've never played a game in my life though, so take from that what you will

Not to be an rear end in a top hat and I have yet to play a single game, but my first impression from looking at the game was that the units and abilities were kind of "samey". Ie the special abilities and troop types are the same or similar from faction to faction and the thing that separates them is the availability and a few stats here and there. But then I thought about the state of 40k at the moment and thought that might not be such a bad thing Not a viking fucked around with this message at 23:18 on Aug 2, 2014 |

Don't get me wrong, I think this lends itself more to the "build a list of models you like and its still playable", which is what kept my attention after the beautiful minis caught it.

I'm waiting for my O:I box. What are good next purchases for the nomads? Also I just decided I'll be going vanilla CA instead of pure shas. I already have an asswang, noctifer, shrouded with combirifle(?) and malignos sniper. What should I add to get to 150 pts? Many of the CA models are cool, but there are several poo poo ones as well. When is the new starter coming out? Will it contain anything useful in combo with what I have already? Do we really know anything but the pics?

Thanks! Honestly the noctifer might be the spitfire model, I can't tell the difference between the guns and I honestly don't think it will matter. The operator is one of the models I don't like. What size is it compared to the Charontid? I have no idea what they even do. Its a lot easier to proxy when I only need to know if a thing is "cavalry", "infantry" or its monstrous or flying equivalent Why is the model so expensive for a 9 pt model? I don't even know what the Imetron is for. Maybe I'll just use a "worm" drone model. Seems more appropriate for what it does. And my opponent isn't an rear end in a top hat, I just wanna start small since we've only played one game so far Not a viking fucked around with this message at 12:58 on Sep 12, 2014 |

What base size is the CA Anathematic? I love the model, but might have to use him as a proxy until we play bigger games.
|
# ¿ Sep 19, 2014 13:19 |
|
Is there any real reason why I shouldn't put my skivaro on a 40 mm base? Like, does it prevent him from entering normal doors or something? The model comes with two base extensions (one of which is a dumb dead body which I'll remove anyway, but still).
|
# ¿ Sep 19, 2014 22:39 |
|
Its a good thing I make all the infinity terrain around here then! I'll probably never play at a tournament. Is there any reason why loving with the basing would piss of any would-be opponent? Like, does it provide any real "bonus"? I guess it furthers the range of his gun by 7,5 mm? Its easier to get why base sizes matter in 40k with close combat and all the template weapons, but I don't understand how it really matters in any meaningful way in a skirmish game like Infinity. It looked better with the dead body off anyway (see, I'm not 13 anymore and don't put random body parts and paint blood splatters all over my space dollies anymore) so I might keep the base after all.

Question about the Dogged skill: "The figure will die when the turn he would have fallen Unconscious finishes, if the player stops spending Orders on him in a consecutive way, or if he suffers another Wound." So if the model is wounded in my opponent's turn, he will only live until the end of that turn? OTOHA, if he gets wounded by an ARO in my turn, I can keep spending orders on him to keep him alive for that turn only?
