I have a pretty old canon scanner and every time I scan a photo it looks very soft when the print looks pretty sharp, had to take photos of them with a digital camera. Would a newer scanner make a difference or do I have to do something special when scanning?

I'm liking the slightly more control than the Mini 50s I'm getting with the Diana and instant back. Paired with the 'Premium' glass lens, the pictures turn out really well.
