Hey, someone posted an article here about how WSOF contacts are structured. Apparently they might be difficult to leave from? Or they have automatic renewal clauses?

Does anyone know what I'm referring to?

I'm reading this book "Pound for Pound", and the author tries to tell a cool Fedor story.

Fedor wants to be a professional athlete that gets a stipend from the state. To be eligible for consideration, you need to be an 'international master' for judo. Fedor gets bronze in several international competitions, but gets shafted for becoming an international master, so his dream dies on the vine right there.

Fedor starts competing in combat sambo events, but the payouts are in items, rather than cash. He got a car one time, another time he gets a german shepard that was trained to be a fighting dog. So he brings the dog home, his mom freaks out that she doesn't have the room or desire for the dog. Fedor's walking the dog one day, and this couple stop him, crying, saying how much he looks and acts like some other german shepard. So he just gives them the dog! The dog that was specifically bred to fight, but they have no idea has been trained in any particular fashion at all.

I think it's supposed to show how generous and kindhearted Fedor is, but in actuality, it sounds like Fedor has criminally bad judgement.

I was going to post that. Bob Sapp owns, and was basically the only guy to get everything that K-1 or Pride promised him. If he actually spent the last few years taking dives to finance other fighter's medical bills, that's commendable too.

That was pretty touching because there are some serious real world risks involved with a organization or fighter putting on obvious works, but they did it anyway because you know, it would make a sick child happy.

Garcia is the perfect kind of fighter to spice up a fight pass card, especially one that has a lot of unknown or unproven prospects. Unbelievably, there is definitely room in the ufc for Leonard Garcia in 2014.

So now that the dust has settled, was 60 million for pride's library and contracts a fair price?

I seem to remember zuffa suing pride's original owners for fraudulently misrepresenting the company's financial stability, but don't know what resulted of it.

I still think they could make the definitive MMA movie.

I'll admit I wasn't paying the strictest attention and thought that the time between cyborg dropping her opponent and the fight getting called off was suspiciously quick, espeically in the light of how kim winslow was to repeatedly stand up the prior title match for 'inactivity'. In reality I guess I wanted an additional quarter second to prove that Cyborg was loving up that girl as badly as she was claiming that she was.

I don't know if you can talk about being proud and honored if you give yourself the nickname of People's Champ.

Tito/Bonnar did insane numbers and proved that having "name" fighters is worth infinitely more than compelling and even matchups. So depressingly enough, Tito might actually being in the running for champion of the people, judging by the eyeballs he draws.

I don't see why collusion between Kimbo and Shamrock is so ludicrous. Hrm yes the guy with an extremely fishy boxing match fighting the guy with worked matches in Pancrase could only result in an above the board match.

If Kimbo's camp approached Ken and told him go out there and fight, but if you'll make ten grand if you don't submit Kimbo in the first or second round, you'd see exactly the fight we got.

Street Horrrsing

I don't think the match was literally a worked spot. Remember that the orginal Kimbo Slice scandal wasn't that Seth Petruzelli was supposed to throw the match, but rather he'd get paid a bonus for fighting with a suboptimal strategy by not taking it to the floor.

“He jabbed me twice,” Monson told MMAjunkie. “Just two jabs, no big deal. But man, I felt it. I was groggy, my bell was rung, just from two jabs. I remember thinking, ‘This isn’t normal.’”

“Everybody thinks (continuing to fight) is a bad idea for me,” Monson said. “Everybody."

So for now Monson’s plan is to work around it, this thing that’s happening to him. For these next two fights, he said, he’ll tailor his training around avoiding punches, avoiding any and all shots to the head, focusing on getting his fights to the floor where he can put his considerable grappling skills to good use.

Regardless of what sonnen decides to take, outright barring random testing, running on indian casinos and booking fighters for fights while under suspension is a greenlight for bellator to be the steroid league. There is no way for the other fighters under contract to interpret coker's actions in any other light.
