Doing this as a little test. If I copy a YouTube url from my mobile browser, direct paste with no vb code:

code:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3kwDVw0u4Kw

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3kwDVw0u4Kw

If I switch to desktop view and do the same:

code:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=3kwDVw0u4Kw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=3kwDVw0u4Kw

If I use youtube's special youtu.be "share this video" link and paste it in with no vb code:

code:

https://youtu.be/3kwDVw0u4Kw?si=7FQ5eQ50orqN4OiO

https://youtu.be/3kwDVw0u4Kw?si=7FQ5eQ50orqN4OiO

And now, the same 3 URLs but using the app's "Insert Video" function (which simply adds [video ] [/video ] tags around the url in the drafted post:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kwDVw0u4Kw

[video type="youtube"]/watch?app=desktop&v=3kwDVw0u4Kw[/video]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kwDVw0u4Kw

Edit: interesting. The app (or the forum itself?) added URL tags to my first 3 URLs upon posting. And it converted the video tags on the latter three URLs to a different format:

code:

[video type="youtube"]3kwDVw0u4Kw[/video]

[video type="youtube"]/watch?app=desktop&v=3kwDVw0u4Kw[/video]

[video type="youtube"]3kwDVw0u4Kw[/video]

(the second of which failed to embed)

Anyway. I came here for something else. But before I post about it, is there a list of features requested/planned (and known bugs etc) I can peruse at my leisure? I don't wanna repeat anything that or have already been saying.

I couldn't see anything like this mentioned in the OP.

Lovely, thank you. 68 issues isn't too much to catch up on!

My favourite thing is all those sites that try desperately to stop me from saving an image to my computer, only to be roundly and swiftly defeated by my secret cutting edge "take screen shot" key

Hello, I was wondering if this app has support for downloading threads for offline reading, or if that might be added. Didn't see it in the OP and couldn't find info on it easily on my phone app. Thanks for any details on this!

I don't think it does, but if you load a bunch of pages in advance you should be able to then revisit and read them (images and all) while offline. Not optimal but only takes a minute or two and you can even reset the 'last post read' count so you don't lose your place. You probably already know this so apologies if this comes across as captain obvious over here

Anyway, I have a question of my own. I don't know if this is an App thing or an OS thing, but I recently switched phones and the "Web Search" option has disappeared from my long tap context menu. Any ideas how I get that back? (and even better: how can I customise this menu, so I can get rid of Office Note?)

It does! I tried it just now with an image heavy thread, while in flight mode. You do get a "loading failed" message but otherwise previously-loaded pages show up fine.

I have a lil feature request.

When I use "find in page" on a thread and type a string, and then go back a page in the thread, the "find in page" feature closes. Is there a way to keep it open, with the string I typed? (even better if it then also searches for that string on the newly-opened page)

I couldnt see this in the OP so sorry if it's mentioned elsewhere but is there a way to download a thread ahead of a flight or whatever where you know you'll have no WiFi?

This did come up recently, and no. You'll have to load each page in advance so it's all cached locally on your phone

Is it when you're on a page with lots of images still loading? I get that a lot but I'm just impatient

Oh man, have you guys mastered the imgur app somehow? Because if so I need to plead for you help because I have got nowhere with it.

I manage to get as far as this screen:

And then i tap "Post". That immediately takes me to this screen:

...and there's no indication that anything has happened. Did it upload? where did it go? how do i see it? Mysteries for the ages. I can't fathom it.

I did check my user account's Posts tab to see if it appeared there but... the only images that appear there are the above two screenshots. Which I emailed to myself and uploaded to imgur from my computer

Click the human on the bottom, and change it to all or hidden

Your post spurred me to look into this a little closer. Turns out, it's a toss-up as to whether hidden images appear on the "hidden" tab or not, so "all" is your best bet.

So here is my tried and tested 16-tap guide for the imgur app

1. Open app
2. Tap upload button
3. Tap image(s)
4. Tap Next
5. Tap Post
6. Tap user account button
7. Tap "Public"
8. Tap "All"
9. Tap the freshly uploaded image
10. Tap it again
11. Tap the share button
12. Tap copy next to the URL
13. Switch to awful where your post is in draft
14. Tap BB button
15. Tap Insert Image
16. Tap OK

Voila

Alright I've been going around all my apps making them follow the system theme (dark at night, light at day). For Awful I can't seem to find that setting. Is it just dark all the time or light all the time? If so I don't mind much (maybe when it's bright I should be enjoying the sun instead of squinting at a dead gay comedy forum anyway)

Obviously the correct way to celebrate this change is to upload whatever is on your phone
