I was surprised by the fact that they referred to him as a mutant in the trailer, I assumed it would have been keeping an almost complete separation from X-Men. I still don't think its in continuity with the movies at all though and he definitely won't be Xavier's son. I just figured they would use the general idea of a dude with multiple personalities that all have superpowers.

At least they didn't make it a police procedural!

I'm curious how they're going to present Iron Fist origins because it's so far out from the rest of the Netflix shows.

Luke Cage: Science experiment gone wrong

Jessica Jones: Science experiment gone wrong

Daredevil: Splashed with chemicals from a science experiment gone wrong

Iron Fist: Travelled to a magic city and punched a dragon in the heart.

Here's our first look at Black Bolt and Lockjaw. Seems kinda regressive that they gave Bolt the Singer X-Men costume treatment.

The premise is just way too sticky, really. White-guy IF = People bitching about the dumb as poo poo "white saviour" trope. Asian IF = People bitching about typecasting the one Asian protagonist in the MCU.

Also it kinda doesn't help that DC basically did this poo poo 5 years ago with Arrow. Rich white kid ends up stranded and learns from foreigners (the Chinese ex-soldier and the Aussie black ops guy), trains, and comes back to save the city. Were there even any comparisons between IF and Arrow in those reviews? I'm too lazy to read most of em.

This is the exact same plot of Batman Begins as well

Did they strip most of the supernatural stuff out of Iron Fist? I can see them having a struggle figuring out his origin when 3/4 of the Defenders get their powers from science experiments gone wrong, While Danny gets his from punching a dragon in the heart.

I get that they'd want to try and make him fit better in the mini-universe they created, but that stuff is the thing that makes him a bit less of a third rate Batman/Arrow/etc.

Also disappointed that the failure of this likely means no live action Fat Cobra

There's been no Marvel Netflix show yet where the back half was better than the first half.

All of them should've been cut to 8 Eps (which Defenders thankfully is)

Amazon fixed The Tick's costume for the full show, looks a lot better than the weirdly overdetailed one from the pilot.

I just don't know why anyone cares about this show. There's no way it can touch the cartoon. The other live-action show sure didn't.

I still enjoyed the live-action show as it's own thing. Patrick warburton was such ideal casting that it worked.

I already have Venture Bros as the spiritual sequel to the cartoon

Just watched the Iron Fist episode with the Bride of Nine Spiders . It's really lovely that they wasted her as a random goon instead of leaving her for the chance of doing the Immortal Weapons properly in a later season.

Suit has been redesigned since the pilot too.

Suit looks way better, pilot suit was gross looking and weirdly over detailed.

Jackie Earl Haley was super good playing an outrageous, scene chewing villain in the pilot.

LOL. This is the exact problem the Defenders had. You have to put all the characters in costume or none of them. Having three people in street clothes with one guy in superhero tactical gear looks ridiculous. All of them having brightly died hair except Robin just makes him stand out more. He looks like a character from a different show got lost trying to find the set.
