Can't believe the things I see
That happens in the state
By a mortal distance that I can't believe
Self destructive infernal
To save us from the breed
But I know that it is all a lie
Star wars begin now
His bombs come exploding
To bring back the death of the night
No mercy he's knowing
How strong he must show us
For the last film you all get a part
Be by my side
Or you've to die
Believe what I do is the right
Soon Armageddon
Last hours are running now
The final solution begins
The words of a madman
No children to tell them
For what they'll not see in the light
Choose by your voice
He kills and destroys
At the end you must die for the night
In earlier chess games
We're playing the part of a soldier
But now we are not qualified
To save our own life
The traps are all placed by command
They are ready to strike
We live and we'll die
By the lies to believe

[Lead]

[PreChorus:]
Try to escape from this suicide dreams
Or past time will come back again
Hiroshima is a joke to that what will come
At the end of the game we all die
Die now

Battalions of fear
They search and they scream
For the American dreams
Battalions of fear
The way of R.R.

He talks about peace
With snake poisoning tongue
He's praying

You soon fast forget
But you satisfy on Afghanistan
You've been the master
You kill with a laughter
Your screams of peace are wrong and loud
Cause so we are and here we are
We scream and shout!
Your laughing about all the fools
Scream and shout!
With power of evil they stand

NOFX seemed to have a libertarian bent to their old stuff, or at least I thought it did when I was an angry teenage punk rear end in a top hat, but I can't hate them for it since I think maybe they grew out of it. I dunno, I kinda stopped paying attention after Heavy Petting Zoo. But The Decline belongs here, it's pretty alright.

The Long March
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL4CQxy8bx4

quote:

Left, right left, check it out
It goes left, right, left and we're marchin' on
Ya'll can pop your collars, Blue Scholars poppin' collarbones
Molotov cocktail party at the White House
Fire in the hole of the Oval Office, it's lights out
Alpha to Omega, Genesis to Revelation
The meek shall inherit but they're still miseducated
By the colonized mind idolized in America
New people's era once again break the barriers
To crush, kill, destroy
Stressin' over trying to find a job or just keepin' the one you got
Now war? Huh? What the gently caress's it good for?
Absolutely everything that America has stood for
Some read a book but can't overstand one love
Like Radio Raheem's right hand
Two mics, two turns, two cats and no others
My hypeman's the spirit of my still-born brother

Goin' left right, left and we're marchin' on
Left, right, left, keep it up ya'll
Left, right, left, keep marchin' on
Left, right, left (check it out)

It goes left, right, left like a pendulum
Swingin' the momentum in the people's direction
I learned lessons never taught in textbooks or chalkboards
Sittin' in the back of the class, the teacher talked more
Cock back this hammer to sickle-cell up you amateurs
Skills below average, you will always be a challenger
I walk like a champion, talk like a champion
Want to be somebody? Better get yourself some discipline
I spit good medicine, listen to the antidote
Clean the Clear Channel out your eardrums and throat
I wrote this manifesto for folks who can't afford most luxuries
And not those who boast that they're broke when they're not
Walk now, proud and tall, the occasional fall
It keeps me humble through it all
Now Geo's chillin', Sabzi's chillin', what more can I say?
We keep marchin' to the rhythm

Goin' left, right, left and we're marchin' on
Left, right, left, Blue Scholars ya'll
Left, right, left, it's the Long March

No Rest for the Weary
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIqMIrmpUjc

quote:

There's no rest for the weary
Just another day grindin' up stones
'til they turn into dust
It's tough times in the rough
Diamonds ain't enough
To cover up a corrupted and hosed up legacy of strange fruit, bloody whips, and small pox;
Trigger happy cops, barbed wire, and fire water y'all it don't stop.
When the colonizer came with the cross and the sword,
I threw the first spear and said, "I declare war"
I'm a battle scar wearin' heir apparent,
Descendant of a long lineage of proletariat peasants

So check the work ethic in the name,
The lessons might change,
But the essence of the message is the same.
So when they say anything, say, "Why is it?"
Class is in session 'til the teacher gets a pink slip.
I ride the rhythm imbibe a little wine-talk,
Head hit the concrete to line with your spine.

I speak to find peace but it's war all the time,
It's deep like the drive from Renton to Shoreline.
I'm a more mindful guy ever since finding out that I'm about to be a father,
And doubt is not an option.
And now I can't be getting crunk or faded as often.
So getcha hands dirty 'cause a prayer ain't enough
Boss, what cross?
We got crucified by buckshots
One million Jesus' and Judas got his nuts off
Pages, torn out the memories of those who remain
Shackled by the chains of international capital gain
they claim civilized with they animal ways
Peace to Oakland, I've never been a fan of the A's
But some days you can find me inscribing my
soul on the page every crime has an alibi
Disciplined and organized
is how I handle my,
New Jacks is spending mad time on they battle rhymes.
I can't knock it if you find it entertaining,
I rep' those whose labor ain't compensated.

So check the work ethic and the name
The lessons might change,
But the essence in the message is the same.
So when they say anything, say, "Why is it?"
Class is in session 'til the teacher gets a pink slip.
Forty to a class, no wonder we're delinquent,
Half the school district never make it to commencement.

I bend the spine of the track until it snapped
Pops working overtime and he got a broken back
Got three little sisters, one brother in Iraq
And mom prays novenas to keep the fam' intact
But this song ain't a psalm waiting for God to answer
Brothers call me "dog" they got the letters backwards
I'm back with a plan of attack to repossess my name, face, and history y'all
Who goin' test my capacity to spit caliber poo poo
Into a rhythmic lesson entertainments's a legitimate weapon
Igniting the cipher session I'm deciphering life,
and blending both theory into practice
I write vernacular and actual fact, got no posturing
A thousand pointed fingers, I defied every one of them
I ride for my brethren who carry the burden
Of a future uncertain 'til the fall of the curtain
You Better Move
Hold your head high soldier it ain't over yet,
That's why we call it a struggle, you're supposed to sweat.

Check the work ethic in the name,
The lessons might change,
But the essence of the message is the same.
So when they say anything, say, "Why is it?"
Class is in session 'til the teacher gets a pink slip.
Crazy landlady tried to switch up on the lease
If she raises up the rent again it's time to say peace

Peace, peace, and that's my piece
It's still all about the bullet in the belly of the beast
From the east my brother, we came.
The lessons might change,
But the essence of the message is the same
So when they say anything, say, "Why is it?"
Class is in session 'til the teacher gets a pink slip
So keep marching till your feet split open
No rest for the weary, Blue Scholars keep goin'

We're going to talk about more, more matters that you can relate to, know what I'm sayin'?
'cause that's what, that's what the whole message about everything that we rhyme,
It's what we try to connect.

quote:

I like, making you so happy!
Yo, life and debt, light a cigarette smoke the stress,
Take a deep breath baby, let's rearrange the mess we've inherited
Alienated from what is rightfully yours and mine, land
is life, money is time paid for labor
Working eight to five, sometimes six seven eight
We come home and barely know the neighbors
Bills are usually late
Interest accumulates at a usury rate
Collection agency waits from
Pay check to next one, budget like a noose
Working while we sing the proletariat blues
On 501-C3 community plantations,
Non profit sector propped up to kill the movement
for the changes in production relations
But woman you're my comrade, ride and die, revolution-making mother earth
Standing with me in the grocery line
While I'm paying with a jar of pennies, nickels, and dimes

And I love how you don't like art without a message
I love it how you call some fellas on they fetish
Third world sister, never sacrificing substance for style
But stylish with a golden type smile
I love it how you organize with other strong sisters
Love it how you talk about tearing down the system
Like a soldier, my dialectical reflection,
"Yes" is the answer to your question.

Life and debt, write another check to the landlord,
No time to dwell on all the things we can't afford
Got a baby in the womb, a soldier for the future that we're fighting for
Concrete conditions that I'm writin for
The payback, it's way past due
And they say that the masses ain't ready but
We know that ain't true,
You and I both children of Filipino immigrants
From the same island, our ancestors smiling,
Cuz we found one another in a strange land struggling
Moms tryin' to tell us not to protest instead pray for peace,
But that ain't the nature of the beast
So lady grab the bullhorn and take it to the streets
Yellin power to the people, el pueblo unido jamas sera vencido
Til the wealth is spread equal
You 21st century Gabriela Silang
Fierce like Lorena with a rifle in her arms

And I love how you love the people as much as self
I love it how you want redistribution of the wealth
Third world sister, never sacrificing substance for style
But stylish with a golden type smile
I love it how you organize with other strong sisters
Love it how you talk about tearing down the system
Like a soldier, my dialectical reflection,
"Yes" is the answer to your question
Life and debt
I like, making you so happy!
I like, making you so happy!
I like, making you so happy!
Cuz making you so happy makes me happy too!

You Can't Kill Terror posted:

You can destroy an army
You can kill a man
But you can't kill terror
And terror is what I am
Terror your servant as you sturggle to rule
How can you kill terror when you use it as a tool
So when you write the history books remember to omit it
The sickest thing about your race is that you won't admit it

Decapitation, a merciful way for one to quickly die
Just think if they'd slowly plucked out both his eyes
Far better than being buried alive
Think of the babies you buried alive

You can't kill terror
So let's declare war
There's so many dead that we can't keep score
Madness and reason we at once combine
This is a war that can last for all time
The War Against Terror
Sublime!

It's man against monster and only both can lose
Fate is pre-ordained for you, so there's no side to choose
So much like hurricanes you seek to name the cosmic crime
To give a war a name is just a way for you to mark your time
Just think of the babies you buried alive
They haven't quite died

I just got some news from the Central Command
It seems the war didn't go quite as planned
It seems like terror is winning the battle
The humans are killing each other like cattle
The bodies are piled up from Rome to Seattle

Decapitation, a merciful way for one to quickly die
Just think if they'd slowly plucked out both his eyes
Cut off his penis and shoved it in his mouth
Just like they do down south
You can't kill terror

I call you an ignorant slave
Because before you died you acted surprised
So soon you were shown to your grave

American Tune

quote:

I am white, and I've got everything I need
No one clutches their purses when they're in a room alone with me
And I can drive through any neighborhood I please
At any hour, and the police don't do a thing

So if I see a penny on the ground
I leave it alone or loving flip it
I'm a straight white male in America
I've got all the luck I need

I'm a guy getting paid more than a girl with a degree
And I can walk down the streets after dark, no one wants to rape me
And I can get a girl pregnant, and just as easily flee
Just like my straight white male dad did to me

So if I see a penny on the ground
I leave it alone or loving flip it
I'm a straight white male in America
I've got all the luck I need

I've got a pile of broken mirrors and I'm walking under ladders
And I'm spilling tons of salt because to me that doesn't matter
Because my skin and my gender and my orientation
Are the best things to have when you live in this nation
I recommend it highly

So if I see a penny on the ground
I leave it alone or loving flip it
I'm a straight white male in America
I've got all the luck I need
poo poo's gonna work out for me
I'm a straight white male in America
I got all the luck I need

People II 2: Still Peoplin'

quote:

If you've been kicked in or abused or mistreated or misused
You were told there is nowhere to go but up for you
If you've been hurt or you've been betrayed
Or you've been hosed or you've been displaced
You were told it was probably your fault anyway

But when your Hustler subscription and your Xanax prescriptions
Make you feel lonelier instead
You don't want to hear about all those starving children
You don't want to be told it's all in your head
'Cause if it's all in your head, that's terrible

I saw a junkie lying in a puddle of his own blood last week
I saw a cyclist get hit by a car
I saw a homeless guy chug a bottle of mouthwash on Christmas Eve
No, you can never fall too far

You can buy a salad glove, you can buy an iPod
And you can sell that poo poo to Bookmans when your wife dies and you lose your job
You can hope it gets better, you can follow your dreams
But hope is for presidents and dreams are for people who are sleeping

My friend Erin says, "at best, we're all two or three bad decisions away
from becoming the ones that we fear and pity"
And Tony says it's important to bear some witness when you can
And that's not hard to do in the city that I live in

You don't have it any better, you don't have it any worse
You're an irreplaceable human soul with your own understanding of what it means to suffer
And that's a huge bummer

And the law he has been dodging

quote:

We're living in a country that's the finest place of earth
But some folks don't appreciate this land that gave them birth
I hear that up in Washington they're having an awful fuss
'Cause Communists and spies are making monkeys out of us

The bureaus and departments have been busy night and day
They're figuring out just how we gave our secrets all away
And Congress has appointed a committee so they said
To find out who's American and who's a low-down Red.

They call them up to Washington to speak for Uncle Sam
But when they ask them what they are, they shut up like a clam
I wish they'd take and put me on the witness stand today
I'd yell so loud old Stalin could hear me all the way

Refrain: I'm no Communist, and I'll you that right now
I believe a man should own his own house and car and cow
I like this private ownership, and I want to be left alone
Let the government run its business and let me run my own

Our government is bigger than it ever was today
The more they hire to work for it, the more they have to pay
Our public servants should be proud and honest you would think
Instead of taking bribes and dressing up their wives in mink

The taxes keep on going up of that there is no doubt
But still they just can't take it in as fast as they dish it out
Our national debt is monster size and growin' every day
Our children's children, still unborn are gonna have to pay

Our dollar used be the soundest money on this earth
But now two bucks won't even buy a good old dollar's worth
Unless we stop inflation and take care of what we've got
The Communists may win the fight and never fire a shot

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4aRgvXxp3I

quote:

Oh this world is at a tremble with its strength and mighty power
They're sending up to heaven to get the brimstone fire
Take warning my dear brother, be careful how you plan
You're working with the power of God's own holy hand

Refrain: Atomic power, atomic power
Was given by the mighty hand of God
Atomic power, atomic power
It was given by the mighty hand of God

You remember two great cities in a distant foreign land
When scorched from the face of earth the power of Japan
Be careful my dear brother, don't take away the joy
But use it for the good of man and never to destroy

Refrain

Hiroshima, Nagasaki paid a big price for their sins
When scorched from the face of earth their battles could not win
But on that day of judgment when comes a greater power
We will not know the minute and we'll not know the hour

A bunch of the Atomic Platters tracks were compiled on the CONELRAD 640-1240 radio add-ons for Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

Dear Ron MacLean.
Dear Coach’s Corner.
I’m writing in order
for someone to explain
to my niece the distinction
between these mandatory pre-game group rites of submission
and the rallies at Nuremburg.
Specifically the function
the ritual serves in conjunction
with what everybody knows
is in the end a kid’s game.
I’m just appealing to your sense of fair play

when I say
she’s puzzled by
the incessant pressure for her to not defy
the collective will,
and yellow ribboned lapels,
as the soldiers inexplicably rappel
down from the arena rafters
(which, if not so insane, would be grounds for screaming laughter).

Dear Ron MacLean,
I wouldn’t bother with these questions
if I didn’t sense
some spiritual connection.
We may not be the same
but it’s not like we’re from different planets:
we both love this game so much
we can hardly loving stand it.

Alberta-born and prairie-raised.
Seems like there ain’t a sheet of ice
north of Fargo I ain’t played.
From Penhold to the Gatineau,
every fond memory of childhood that I know
is somehow connected to the culture of this game.
I can’t just let it go.

But I guess it comes down to what kind of
world you want to live in,
and if diversity is disagreement,
and disagreement is treason,
well don’t be surprised
if we find ourselves reaping

a strange and bitter fruit
that sad old man beside you
keeps feeding to young minds as virtue.
It takes a village to raise a child
but just a flag to raze the children
until they’re nothing more than ballast for fulfilling
a madman’s dream of a paradise where
complexity is reduced to black and white.

How do I
protect her from
this cult of death?

For together we cannot fail
We got stopped by police at the county line
They said, "Go home boys or you're going to jail"

Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?

It's hard to explain to a crying child
Why her Daddy can't go back
So the family suffer
But it hurts me more
To hear a scab say Sod you, Jack

Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys
Which side are you on?

I'm bound to follow my conscience
And do whatever I can
But it'll take much more than the union law
To knock the fight out of a working man

Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on, boys?
Which side are you on?

Ping Pong

quote:

It's alright, 'cause the historical pattern has shown
How the economical cycle tends to revolve
In a round of decades three stages stand out in a loop
A slump and war then peel back to square one and back for more

Bigger slump and bigger wars and a smaller recovery
Huger slump and greater wars and a shallower recovery

You see the recovery always comes 'round again
There's nothing to worry for things will look after themselves
It's alright, recovery always comes 'round again
There's nothing to worry if things can only get better

There's only millions that lose their jobs
And homes and sometimes accents
There's only millions that die in their bloody wars, it's alright

It's only their lives and the lives of their next of kin that they are losing
It's only their lives and the lives of their next of kin that they are losing

It's alright, 'cause the historical pattern has shown
How the economical cycle tends to revolve
In a round of decades, three stages stand out in a loop
A slump and war then peel back to square one and back for more

Bigger slump and bigger wars and a smaller recovery
Huger slump and greater wars and a shallower recovery

Don't worry be happy things will get better naturally
Don't worry, shut up, sit down, go with it and be happy

Dum, dum, dum, de dum dum
De duh de duh de dum dum dum, ah ah
Dum, dum, dum, de dum dum
De duh de duh de dum dum dum, ah ah

Gus the Mynah Bird

quote:

A military regime in democratic disguise
That lies in all impunity
That takes apart what it took
People years to build
Public institutions
That promised a decent life

Self-determination should be a fact
Not essentially a right

There are the lobbies
Insurance companies
Who want to change the whole country
Into a vast commercial counter
For the pure consumer
The promise to give the generals a better place

Self-determination should be fact
In the face of corruption

When the credits finally roll for this, the worst story ever told, don't bother sifting through the names for yours or anyone you know. Unless they were by chance a shepherd king, a virgin birth, a resurrection, a messianic prince or some such childish thing. You can storm the edit suite or move to block its theatrical release, but I think we can safely guarantee that there will be no revisions to the script made on behalf of a supporting cast(e). Because history exalts only the pornography of force-that of murderers and psychopaths (the rest of us, of course, stricken from the narrative wholesale: a back drop to the tale)-as we, the two-bits, are ushered on and swiftly off this stage with the jawbones of asses. No stirring curtain call for the masses. No floral bouquet. No breaking of legs. No recurring role. No artistic control. And so in these days, in this terminal phase, it's all left to chance. A piece of advice: if you're cast on thin ice, you may as well dance. Do what you feel you must, but as for me I was not put upon this earth to subjugate or serve.

Is it far, is it far, is it far?
When do we leave?
I believe, yes, I believe

In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
To see him fly
So many die
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
Just to see him fly
But don't know why
Now where do we go?

Hot wind, moving fast across the desert
We feel that our time has arrived
The world spins, while we put his dream together
A tower of stone to take him straight to the sky
Oh I see his face!

Where is your star?
Is it far, is it far, is it far?
When do we leave?
Hey, I believe, I believe

In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
Just to see him fly
Too many die
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly
But we don't know why
Ooh, now where do we go

All eyes see the figure of the wizard
As he climbs to the top of the world
No sound, as he falls instead of rising
Time standing still, then there's blood on the sand
Oh I see his face!

Where was your star?
Was it far, was it far
When did we leave?
We believed, we believed, we believed

In heat and rain
With the whips and chains
To see him fly
So many died
We built a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly

But why
In all the rain
With all the chains
Did so many die
Just to see him fly

Look at my flesh and bone
Now, look, look, look, look,
Look at his tower of stone
I see a rainbow rising
Look there, on the horizon
And I'm coming home, I'm coming home, I'm coming home

Time is standing still
He gave back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home

My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh

Take me back
He gave me back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh

Going home
I'm going home

My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh

Take me back, take me back
Back to my home ooh, ooh, ooh

Definitely one of my favorite politically metaphorical songs.

Lipstick Apathy
Some commentary:

My deal is that I don't like much folk, rock and punk music which is often more political than dance, disco, pop and electronic music. These latter genres have tended more towards the apolitical. An exception in the latter category is electronic-industrial music, which has some similarities to punk. But the fact the pop and dance is generally more apolitical has occasionally lead to backlashes against it for being too at ease with the establishment. The "Disco Sucks" campaign had an element to this in the late 1970s among the genre's critics.

But this is also unfair, I think. Pop and dance has often been in the crosshairs of social conservatives when these genres pushed racial and sexual boundaries. Some music critics have also asserted--with good evidence--that the backlash to disco was partly a reaction by white heterosexual punks and rockers to a cultural movement associated with blacks and gays. Pushing disco back into the closet was a means of reasserting white heterosexual cultural supremacy. This wasn't the entire reason for the backlash of course, the genre also helped eat itself, but the anti-disco mood did take on undeniably racist and homophobic forms.

For exhibit below, a cartoon from a 1979 issue of Punk magazine in which disco fans are derided as "faggots."

http://www.punkmagazine.com/vault/back_issues/16/16index.html

Point being, it's time for some loving disco.

A mid-2000s commentary on Britain and America's "special relationship":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dfdlG_5wuc

This song, a *massive* hit in France and Quebec in 1991, tapped into Mitterrand-era ennui:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUQZZW2GrAA

Not exactly pop but the Pet Shop Boys composed a soundtrack for Sergei Eisenstein's silent film The Battleship Potemkin (can you see I like the Pet Shop Boys?):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9d2mW3qGy58

Edit: gently caress it. One more because I love Mylene Farmer. Another thing about pop is that it's usually more innovative in the visuals than it is with the sound, and it's where more of the political commentary goes on. This video is another tribute to Eisenstein and has lots of blood, violence, Lenin, revolution, Marx and creepy Tsarist witches:

Hi friends, thanks so much for all of your fabulously fantastic posts! It's so cool to have a thread dedicated to political music and I really appreciate all of your efforts to share some of your favorite political and D&D-esque tunes!

I decided to make another video of myself singing one of my favorite political songs! This time I've made a video of myself singing "Hasta Siempre, Comandante" by Carlos Puebla. This is a famous and fantastic musical tribute to a great revolutionary hero, and I made a video of myself singing this song while staring lovingly at a finger puppet of Che Guevara so that I could pretend to be singing directly to Che Guevara himself! This is another a cappella rendition and I've uploaded the video to youtube. Be sure to watch the whole thing so that you can hear me say "oops" at the end! Here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz9k80KX_0s

And here are the lyrics, thanks to Wikipedia:

Aprendimos a quererte
desde la histórica altura
donde el Sol de tu bravura
le puso cerco a la muerte.

Chorus:
Aquí se queda la clara,
la entrañable transparencia,
de tu querida presencia,
Comandante Che Guevara.

Tu mano gloriosa y fuerte
sobre la Historia dispara
cuando todo Santa Clara
se despierta para verte.

[Chorus]

Vienes quemando la brisa
con soles de primavera
para plantar la bandera
con la luz de tu sonrisa.

[Chorus]

Tu amor revolucionario
te conduce a nueva empresa
donde esperan la firmeza
de tu brazo libertario.

[Chorus]

Seguiremos adelante,
como junto a tí seguimos,
y con Fidel te decimos :
«¡Hasta siempre, Comandante!»

Rioting-the unbeatable high
Adrenalin shoots your nerves to the sky
Everyone knows this town is gonna blow
And it's all gonna blow right now

Now you can smash all the windows that you want
All you really need are some friends and a rock
Throwing a brick never felt so drat good
Smash more glass
Scream with a laugh
And wallow with the crowds
Watch them kicking peoples' rear end

But you get to the place
Where the real slavedrivers live
It's walled off by the riot squad
Aiming guns right at your head
So you turn right around
And play right into their hands
And set your own neighbourhood
Burning to the ground instead

Riot-the unbeatable high
Riot-shoots your nerves to the sky
Riot-playing into their hands
Tomorrow you're homeless
Tonight it's a blast!

Get your kicks in quick
They're callin' the national guard
Now could be your only chance
To torch a police car

Climb the roof, kick the siren in
And jump and yelp for joy
Quickly-dive back in the crowd
Slip away, now don't get caught

Let's loot the spiffy hi-fi store
Grab as much as you can hold
Pray your full arms don't fall off
Here comes the owner with a gun

The barricades spring up from nowhere
Cops in helmets line the lines
Shotguns prod into your bellies
The trigger fingers want an excuse
NOW

The raging mob has lost its nerve
There's more of us but who goes first
No one dares to cross the line
The cops know that they've won

It's all over but not quite
The pigs have just begun to fight
They club your heads, kick your teeth
Police can riot all that they please

Tomorrow you're homeless
Tonight it's a blast

Crass responded to the punk obsession with fashion by dressing in black-dyed military surplus clothes, and then in response to accusations that they were presenting themselves in a macho, militaristic way, put out Penis Envy, which features no male voices and is basically Radical Feminism: the album, focusing both on the individual and societal level. I think it's their best album.

I've got 54321,
I've got a red pair of high-heels on,
Tumble me over, it doesn't take much,
Tumble me over, tumble me, push.
In my red high-heels, I have no control,
The rituals of repression are so old,
You can do what you like, there'll be no reprisal,
I'm yours, yes I'm yours, it's my means of survival.

I've got 54321,
Come on my love, I know you're strong,
Push me hard, make me stagger,
The pain in my back just doesn't matter.
You force-hold me above the ground,
I can't get away, my feet are bound,
So I'm bound to say
That I'm bound to stay.

Today I look so good,
Just like I know I should,
My breasts to tempt inside my bra,
My face is painted like a movie star,
I've studied my flaws in your reflection
And put them to rights with savage correction,
I've turned my statuesque perfection
And shone it in your direction.
So come on my darling, make me yours,
Trip me over, show me the floor,
Tease me, tease me, make me stay,
In my red high-heels I can't get away.
I'm trussed and bound like an oven ready bird
But I bleed without dying and I won't say a word.
Slice my flesh and I'll ride the scar,
Put me into gear like your lady car,
Drive me fast and crash me crazy,
I'll rise from the wreckage as fresh as a daisy.
These wounds leave furrows as they heal,
I've traveled them, they're red and real,
I know them well, they're part of me,
My birth, my sex, my history,
They grew with me, my closest friend,
My pain's my own, my pain's my end.
Clip my wings so you know were I am,
I can't get lost when you're my man.
Tame me so i know your call,
I've stabbed my heels so I am tall,
I've bound my twisted falling fall,
Beautiful mute against the wall,
Beautifully mutilated as I fall.
Use me, don't lose me.

I've got 54321,
I've got a red pair of high-heels on.
Strap my ankles, break my heels,
Make me kneel, make me feel.
Turn, turn, turn, like a clockwork doll,
Put in your key and give me a whirl.
Tease me, tease me, the reason to play,
In my red high-heels I can't get away.
I'll be your bonsai, your beautiful bonsai,
Your black-eye bonsai, erotically rotting.
Will my tiny feet fit your desire?
Warped and tied I walk on fire.
Burn me out, twist my wrists,
I promise not to shout, beat me with your fists.
Squeeze me, squeeze me, make me feel,
In my red high-heels I'm an easy kill.
Tease me, tease me, make me see,
You're the only one, I need to be me.
Thank you, will you take me?
Thank you, will you make me?
Thank you, will you break me?
Use me, don't lose me,
Taste me, don't waste me.
Use, lose, taste, waste.

System, system, system.
Death in life.
System, system, system.
The surgeons knife.
System, system, system.
Hacking at the cord.
System, system, system.
A child is born.

Poor little fucker, poor little kid,
Never asked for life, no she never did.
Poor little baby, poor little mite,
Crying out for food as her parents fight.
Crying out for food as her parents fight.

System, system, system.
Send him to school.
System, system, system.
Force him to crawl.
System, system, system.
Teach him how to cheat.
System, system, system.
Kick him off his feet.

Poor little schoolboy, poor little lad,
They'll pat him if he's good and they'll beat him if he's bad.
Poor little kiddy, poor little chap,
They'll force feed his mind with their useless crap.
They'll force feed his mind with their useless crap.

System, system, system.
They'll teach her how to cook.
System, system, system.
Teach her how to look.
System, system, system.
They'll teach her all the tricks,
System, system, system.
Create another victim for their greasy pricks.

Poor little girly, poor little wench,
Another little object to prod and pinch.
Poor little sweety, poor little filly,
They'll gently caress her mind so they can gently caress her silly.
They'll gently caress her mind so they can gently caress her silly.

System, system, system.
He's grown to be a man.
System, system, system.
Taught to fit the plan.
System, system, system.
Forty years of jobs.
System, system, system.
Pushing little buttons, pulling little knobs.

Poor loving worker, poor little serf,
Working like a mule for half of what he's worth.
Poor loving grafter, poor little gent,
Working for the cash that he's already spent.
Working for the cash that he's already spent.

He's selling his life,
She's his loyal wife,
Timid as a mouse,
She's got her little house,
He's got his little car,
And they share the cocktail bar
She likes to cook his meals,
You know, something that appeals.
Sometimes he works til late
So his supper has to wait,
But she doesn't really mind
Cos he's getting overtime.
He likes to put a bit away
Just for that rainy day,
Cos every little counts
As the cost of living mounts.
They do the pools each week
Hoping for that lucky break.
Then they'd take a trip abroad,
Do all the things they can't afford.
She'd really like to have a fur,
He's like a bigger car.
They could buy a bungalow,
With a Georgian door for show.
He might think of leaving work,
But no, he wouldn't like a shirk.
He'd much prefer to stay
And get his honest days pay.
He's got a life of work ahead,
There's no rest for the dead.
She's tried to make it nice,
He's said thank you once or twice.

System, system, system.
Deprived of any hope.
System, system, system.
Taught they couldn't cope.
System, system, system.
Slaves right from the start.
System, system, system.
Til death do them part.

Poor little fuckers, what a sorry pair,
Had their lives stolen, but they didn't really care.
Poor little darlings, just your ordinary folks,
Victims of the system and it's cruel jokes.
Victims of the system and it's cruel jokes.

The couple views the wreckage
And dreams of home sweet home,
They'd almost paid the mortgage,
Then the system dropped its bomb.

Is there any prepared to tell me why?
Tell me why I'm being sucked dry?
Oh yes, that is yours and this is mine,
As long as that balances out, that's fine.
I don't define the terms of the oppression,
Do you awake to that dull and grey depression?

You ride on me,
Suck my energy.

You take want you want when you want it,
You reject any change that I make.
You ask me for more when I've spent it,
When I've given it all, you still take.

Is there any prepared to tell me why?
Tell me why I'm being sucked dry?

Oh yes I know the lines you draw for protection,
The number given for a name is simply for detection,
I know I'm only paper in a file,
But couldn't you treat me as a human for awhile?

You ride on me,
Suck my energy.

You take want you want when you want it,
You reject any change that I make.
You ask me for more when I've spent it,
When I've given it all, you still take.

Is there any prepared to tell me why?
Tell me why I'm being sucked dry?

You offer your protection, but insist when I decline,
You offer independence, but demand I tow the line.
You say you give me freedom, but you hang on to the key,
Well, don't you think, perhaps, the decision's up to me?

You ride on me,
Suck my energy.

You take want you want when you want it,
You reject any change that I make.
You ask me for more when I've spent it,
When I've given it all, you still take.

Is there any prepared to tell me why?
Tell me why I'm being sucked dry?

So tell me I'm dreaming if I want to live
And I'll tell you you're scheming to make me give,
More than i want to, more than I can,
You don't want person, you just want woman.
You hide behind logic, secure with your facts,
You've a history of time to back up your claims,
Protecting the future by filling up the cracks
That might expose the real nature of your games.
You want woman cos she's children for your system,
Well, people wither in that living death.
You hide behind your prejudice, afraid of my wisdom,
Afraid I might question your unquestioned worth.

You ride on me,
Suck my energy.

You take want you want when you want it,
You reject any change that I make.
You ask me for more when I've spent it,
When I've given it all, you still take.

Is there any prepared to tell me why?
Tell me why I'm being sucked dry?
Used as a tool?
Treated as a fool?
Shat on?
Spat on?
Totally confused?
hosed up?
Mucked up?
Totally abused?
Pulled about?
Fooled about?
Treated like a toy?
Joked about?
Poked about?
Something to destroy?
Tricked?
Kicked?
I don't want these games.

Panopticon's pretty cool. Black metal project that rejects the typical right-wing nature of most European black metal.

First album was general all purpose anarchy/left wing stuff, last song on the album is based on Emma Goldman's Marriage and Love.

in their hair there are no braids.
slaves who refuse to serve their masters.
your evening obligation is the soil that stains your face.
when I'm burned alive, will you go down in flames?
what freedoms are denied you?
other than the right to breathe?
what expectations are placed on you?
conform,discard,dilute..

Made a song about Sacco and Vanzetti
La passione di Sacco & Vanzetti

Sobbingly confess of a dark figure in the doorway.
A voice she had known for so long across from her at the dinner table.
Not only would she share this trauma with him, she also shared a birthright and a namesake.
Loss of innocence and dignity. Tell no one.

The tears you cry won't empty the seed from your womb.
The tears you cry won't make your menstrual blood flow.
Sob for your loss: The wolves will drink your tears.
Your misfortune will become their fortune.

Welcome to a home you aren't allowed to leave.
Herded like cattle into walls of concrete.
Sterile like your raped womb.
Therapists wait to pour salt on your wounds, Your insurance pays for it all.
A ghost of a world you could have known.
Surrounded by drugged rage, you will face this horror alone.

Latest album is based on the labor movement in regards to Kentucky's coal mining industry.

Tonight, the dis-harmonic symphony of the cicadas plague my ears…
Drifting off to the mind numbing hum of grinding gears.
Families starving in the eerie silence of the hills…lie exposed to the elements so fierce…
Hold out just one more day…say the same tomorrow…say the same tomorrow.
For the union, hold out, for a fair wage and a living, this sorrow.
Living and dying union men.
Meet them in the streets, meet them in the hollers, meet them in the hills and don't back down.
Fight for what is right, for every working man to earn his keep.
Fight for what is right till they meet your demands…in Bloody Harlan…lives laid down for the union.
Scarlet red around your neck.
Black lungs and broken backs in Bloody Harlan, in Bloody Harlan…in Bloody Harlan.
The years go on and the mountains crumble.
The right to live and work, sacrificing body and land.
From Kentucky to West Virginia, the workers rise and fall while wringing hands profit off of it all...
