Yay for top hats.

Game's rad but dear god, it starts too slow. Amped the matter manipulator speed through assets, then went back and edited all the pickaxes cause goddamn. Diamond or Platinum pickaxes should not take that long to go through cobblestone. Also reduced fall damage to 50% and reduced pixel loss to 10%, made things bearable.

I'd also love to see crafted weapons normalized between races; my apex friend gets better weapons through crafting - and so far all the weapons we've found on t2 are poo poo, so we're stuck with crafted ones.

Edit:

edit: nvm, double tap in a direction. Neat. Only goes left or right and works in midair.

Do you remember the coordinates by any chance? Seems like the tech stuff are pre-determined.

Really? It's the second day of beta, haha.

Haha, yeah, I was just pissed off getting 1-shot in a level-appropriate planet with the best armor I could craft, and combat's not something I can fix with a bit of JSON editing. Though this is the second day of the open beta, I was also kinda expecting to have a better armor/damage system in place after Bartwe's rigorous item tests and whatever came up within the internal beta. I guess the combat was a wee bit rushed.

I just had an awesome idea for this game.

Derelict Stations - A new type of "planet" that isn't really a planet at all, but rather an abandoned space station. Essentially, this would be a planet-sized dungeon made of interconnected rooms. Primary enemies would be security drones, but you'd also have to look out for others who've come aboard to scavenge. Unlike being planetside, within a station your food comes primarily from loot, although you might also stumble upon a greenhouse in which to plant your seeds or a livery stable overrun with escaped, meaty monsters.

Basically a planet type for if you don't care about mining and want the game to be all dungeon-crawl, all the time.

assets\dungeons\other\wreck has some stuff you might like.

Not sure if they are spawning atm though.

It is random. The "coordinates" of every planet acts as the random seed that generates the planet. So everyone will find the same planet if they go to the same coordinates.

Doing some armor tests on t2, actually works.

Naked I'm taking 53 damage.
With my t2 racial armor (30 armor total), it was 17.
I edited my armor values to 99 (297 armor total) and I was taking 5-6 damage per.
Edited armor values to 999 (total 2997 armor) and I was blocking everything. Blocked! would pop up on any attack.

Gonna test how it scales, then I'll test energy regen.

I've been busy making (lovely) sprites yesterday, and today seems like I'll be doing the same too. Not a fan of every race having the same body silhouette; though I understand the reasoning behind this.

Anyway, I found a guide for ship editing:

quote:

Each pixel in dropshipblocks.png is an 8x8 pixel sized square on your shipship.png.
dropship.structure determines what each color in dropshipblocks does (like red being a solid space of nothing).

For editing, you need an image program capable of using Layers and transparency like Photoshop (a free alternative like Paint.NET works just as well)...

1. Increase dropshipblocks to 800% its original size (remember to use "nearest neighbor" resampling to make it not blurry)
2. Overlay your shipship on the layer above, aligning it to the dropshipblocks image.
3. Do whatever you want to your shipship layer.
4. Adjust dropshipblocks to suit your new layout, maybe even add some new items by adding them in dropship.structure.*

*Instead of messing with offsets in .structure and checking to see if the two are properly lined up in game, have shipship be the "same" resolution as dropshipblocks at 800%, laid out in the exact position in which it would line up (such as this very image).

5. Hide the dropshipblocks layer and save your image as shipship.png
6. Hide the shipship stuff and shrink the image back down to its original dropshipblocks size (12.5% nearest neighbor) and save that as dropshipblocks.png

Existing characters have to clear out their ship and delete their SHIPWORLD file in order to get a new ship properly working.
Other players online see your custom ship because they download your SHIPWORLD file which contains the image and space.
