Wee Pals

Wee Pals, done by the 90 year old Morrie Turner, is fantastic. I originally started posting it because I thought it was kinda lovely, but it's grown on everybody. It started out in the 1960s as a racially diverse comic, and gained popularity after the assassination of MLK Jr. Morrie Turner clearly does not give a gently caress anymore, and has started doing comics about stuff like Trayvon Martin. We all love him for it.

I think everyone needs to see that strip again.

Charles Addams did comics for the New Yorker from the 30's to the 70's. He mixes horror and comedy very brilliantly, and some recurring characters in a creepy family were eventually made into the famous Addams Family. I'm posting panels sporadically in no particular order, from the collection My Crowd. I'm not really adept at scanning and resizing, so be sure to click through for the bigger, cleaner images. (Also, I plan on rescanning some I've already done when I get the chance)

I've been enjoying these, but I really love the ones like this that take a second look.

That still looks better than Brooke's maws. You need bigger teeth, more teeth, and more of a gap between the lips and the gums. Like as if her head was a giant bag filled with air and her skull is a quarter of the size of her head.

It's All Right Chief Dharma

Since a few people mentioned they were having trouble understanding it, here's what I'm getting:

In the first scene Dharma mentions that the other guy seems distracted by something, which turns out to be his hair loss. He suggests getting a wig so that when the hair loss starts to become really noticeable nobody will actually notice because he'll have been wearing the wig for some time already. He agrees to this idea, and Dharma gives him the info of someone who can help with that. The next day, they run into each other and Dharma is shocked to see what appears to be a massive bald spot on his head, apparently due to a hairpiece being blown off. Turns out that nope, nothing was blow off, but rather, a bra was blown on.

Alright Cap'n Eddie! :krad: And, :wtf: *is* a "polar vortex"? Whatever happened to "strong cold front"? Kids these days.. :corsair:

It's any giant, naturally occurring cyclone of extremely cold air that occurs at the poles. There's one at each pole year round (although it gets weaker during the summer), and occasionally smaller ones are spun off, usually due to the jet stream. Records of it go back to the 1850's, but increased evaporation at the poles and the changing shape of the jet stream appear to be making situations like this winter where smaller ones spin off more common. So yeah, it's not just a "cold front" it's "the cold front."

Ahahaha, look at this poo poo. There really isn't any other word that properly describes it. There's the complete lack of perspective, the "background," the usual lazy copy/past art that's somehow WORSE than normal (the gently caress is up with his nose?), the failure to properly draw anything on the table, and to cap it all off "aw crap, I don't know how to draw this guy from behind, oh well, no one will notice/care anyways." It's masterful in it's complete inability to succeed in anything it attempts to be.
