I can't think of anything more suitable to my needs and sensibilities than a pre-74 911

My mother used to drive a battered early-gen 944 to work - we even stuffed four people and a cat in it for a 5 hour drive one summer. Apart from the tiny rear seats, it was oddly usable.

Of course, that's a far tamer and more sensible car than the early 911s. :)
