I'm sure there is some speculation going on, but I picked up my playset this last week because I wanted to get them prior to the Pro Tour because they were the last remaining expensive card that I needed for a majority of decks I wanted to play. I don't think Faeries is going to dominate, but I do think it's going to be strong enough to shift the metagame slightly. That could lead to more control, which will result in a demand for Cryptics.

Played Standard for the first time in ages tonight as Grand Prix Chicago Byes season has officially started. Here's what I learned: - 60 card decks feel weeeeeeeeeeeeeeird, man, it's like too many cards...  - Know what the ultimate price is for a Planeswalker. Don't be like me and NOT kill Kiora because you thought it was -6 and get Krakened to death.

My favorite GTXx3 draft moment was being the only Gruul drafter, thinking "it would be so nice to open Domri in this final pack", and then it happened.  So many fun Guilds in GTC, I loved it.

Just guessing: -6 You get an emblem that says "Whenever a player casts a spell that targets you or a permanent you control, copy it. You may choose new targets for that spell." I feel decent about my +1 guess, as it's a very useful multiplayer ability. I'm still probably wrong.

In news that will surprise absolutely no one, Ajani is a house in Limited. It helped to also open: - Hydra Broodmaster - Boon Satyr - Bow of Nylea - and the White Promo Ended up 3-1, losing in the last match to a really solid UG deck that I couldn't afford to stumble against (and boy did I stumble).

Just got home from going 4-0 with RW Punch You in the Face. Picked Black, but White was too good to not be my primary color and Red had to most combat tricks. Basically anything above 3CMC immediately caused damage or helped me throw guys at my opponent. That makes 7-1 for this round of Prerelease, my best to date.

I just got back from drafting Conspiracy, I'm totally getting two boxes now. I feel I got a good sample of the Conspiracy experience. Pack 1 was Stifle vs. Worldknit (took Stifle), Pack 2 was Lore Seeker (Innistrad, they didn't have Modern Masters otherwise I think the table would have chipped in enough for that), ended up with UB 2-for-1. Once the dust settled I effectlvely controller the table with card advantage, but only ended up with one kill thanks to someone else poaching it. Ended up in second with the kill on the board when the remaining player top decked enough to win. Good times, excited for next Saturday's Conspiracy Drink and Draft.
