Hey, I just started playing again for the first time since the mid-90s, starting with MTGO. Anyway, some guy's "just for fun" match-join comments were like "casual, no T1" or something. I joined with a really cheap green ramp/devotion type deck, and was ready to swing for 6 on turn 3 (he went first and played blue/white scrylands). Anyway, he called me a moron and said I didn't read/understand what "casual" meant. I tried pointing out comparative deck prices and the fact that if I don't win by turn six I probably wouldn't, but that didn't help. My questions: am I (even partly) the rear end in a top hat here? Is this more of a "anyone worse than me is casual/anyone who beats me is too competitive" kind of thing?

MODO players will get mad at you if you play anything that beats them, no matter how wacky or budget.

How can the gods even be nearly as powerful as a planeswalker. Can't a planeswalker just summon up a memory of something simple like say the knowledge of exiling something and just zap them out of existence?

I mean there might be some elaborate combo that works but I'd be sort of shocked if anyone ever takes a turn off that card. Ajani is going to be hilarious with Doubling Season in kitchen table stuff.

The printings of Ajani always seem to be very sick with doubling season, either you get 2 avatars equal to your life or double the amount of 2/2 cats of your life. They both work when he comes out with doubling season too.

I don't get why they worded it like that. It should be like Etched Monstrosity and say "Remove five +1/+1 counters from Sage of Hours: Take an extra turn after this one."

I imagine if they were to do a functional reprint they would make them just legendary versions of the original duals, because the only reason they would open them up more is for EDH anyway.

But yeah, what people are saying, it's not happening unless they walkback their walkbacks.

But they don't seem to care about supporting legacy outside of already existing playerbases, they do seem to be making more EDH cards though.

EDIT: What I'm saying is it would be a TNN type of thing, and I would guess the reprinted duals would fit best as legendary lands in an EDH set that happen to be good in legacy.

Vanilla Grizzly Bears and Gray Ogres that are legendary. And to make them work at common/limited, there's three or four of each.

I do wonder if they'd ever try something like a "legendary instant/sorcery" or whatever. Pokemon has a subset of Trainer cards that is limited to one of that specific type in a deck (ACE Spec). For example, Computer Search and Master Ball are both ACE Spec cards, so you can only run one or the other in a deck but not both. I don't know if something like that would actually work in Magic.

Maybe if two legendary instant/societies are on the stack at once they cancel out?

League of Legends handled this brilliantly by locking you out of playing more games until the one you ragequit ended. A similar cooldown timer would be nice, though random disconnects being one of MODO's most enduring 'features' probably makes that unworkable.

I play Miracles normally, but I can't drop a grand on the manabase and Jaces right now.

Which of these two do you feel is the better placed deck right now? Or is neither going to be competitive enough and I should just find a way to make a real deck.
