New LOTR LCG post about The Lost Realm. It details the side quests a bit more...including that there are PLAYER CARD Side Quests! Interesting stuff, not sure how often they'll be used though... http://fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=5329 Can't wait though.

Taran_Wanderer posted:A new preview for the Treason of Saruman is up. The Ally versions of Gimli and Legolas look very nice, though a bit expensive. Helm's Deep looks like a neat variation on the formula, too. I especially like that the locations give a benefit on travel, and a detriment on exploring. Mostly, it just makes me wish I had people to play LOTR with. A bit expensive, yeah...but man I can see Legolas doing some work with card draw in Tactics. Especially since most of my Tactics decks tend to be mono or Tactics/Leadership in multiplayer.

The first Angmar Awakened Adventure Pack details! http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=5346 Includes a new keyword Valour - triggers when you have 40 or more threat. Its the opposite of secrecy haha. More Hobbits expected E: Sob. They do say at the bottom that the packaging is changing. That means my method of cutting the box to use a card separator probably wont work anymore ChiTownEddie fucked around with this message at 16:07 on Jan 30, 2015 |

I have 2 core sets and every expansion, have been playing 2 player so far and haven't built any 3 player decks. Whatcha mean? Are you making three single sphere decks? If so, I'd probably leave out Lore myself...but you can probably build 3 two sphere decks just fine...

Hah I haven't had to introduce anyone...maybe make a combat deck (mono tactics or 2 tactics and a lore\spirit to help with threat), middle ground deck of mostly leadership, and a support\tricks deck (spirit splash lore) for you to play. That way the two other decks are mostly Do Stuff in nearly mono sphere and you can fill in the gaps? E: something like Boromir/Thalin/Legolas, Aragorn/Theodred/Denethor, and Eowyn/Eleanor/Beravor maybe (just looking at the heroes.....) ^^ I simply have not reached the point where I need to freshen up the game by making well known quests harder...Who knows when, if ever, I get there. Seriously can't come soon enough. At least a good part of my excitement is based off the fact I will be finally playing a cycle as it is released haha

Whew! My buddy and I played our first LOTR OCTGN game last night (him having a kid + me moving into a new condo = took a while to coordinate). He played a mono-Lore with a bunch of attachments meant to make Aragorn a beast. I had a test Tactics/Spirit deck with Boromir, Frodo, and Merry. Definitely had some hilarious moments down the stretch. Nothing like having Boromir easily tank multiple 6 attack guys. Reminding my buddy at refresh that the refresh action window is AFTER you raise your threat (ie if you get to 50 you can't then reduce it to survive in that action window) and him being like "Oh I guess I'll reset my threat now then" and then immediately flipping a card that raises your threat by the # of guys not committed to the quest...totally wold have threated him out. Top decking A Test of Will and then revealing a card that would have killed me, canceling, and winning! OCTGN is definitely pretty great at how well it handles the game in general, we were impressed. It'll take a few more games until we're a bit more fluent in the shortcuts and nuances of it though. Can't wait for more! (Plus shorter setup/take down is huge for him with dealing with the baby)

Taran_Wanderer posted:Each enemy may only be attacked once per round. And to be clear on this: Each enemy can be attacked once during each and every player's attack step*. What this means is that if Taran Wanderer attacks first and I join the attack with my ranged char. I can then refresh him (somehow) and attack the same enemy again during my turn. *excluding cards that break this rule (quick strike, etc) that don't even count towards your 1 attack. Taran_Wanderer posted:Personally, I just sleeve the player cards. Same here! Haha so Wednesday night I played with some buddies (via hangouts). It was one guys, maybe 2nd or 3rd time playing. The quest he picked (cause we let him) was Battle of Lake Town. It...did not go well. The highlight for me was having Eleanor with 3 Unexpected Courage's on her...because most good targets for it were dead. I think next time though we'll hold off on letting him pick and start with some slightly easier quests! Still super fun though.

Then realized that I just don't shuffle the encounter deck nearly as much as my player cards (plus I build a lot of decks). So now I can sleeve just the player cards going forward without spending more...so thats good? But really I proxy a lot because screw buying another (or two more?) core sets. Also if I am making a deck for someone else and I need proxies, I'll put those in mine. I also constantly flick cards off each other. So this protects them a bit more.
