How are you getting "Deep South" from that? I'm hearing it in northern Minnesota accent, which I imagine is close to the Canadian they're aiming for. (I've had more exposure to Minnesotans than I have Canadians).

The Godwave, right? It created the New Gods and then reverberated through the universe, hit the edge (???), bounced back, and created Wonder Woman's Greek gods and then seeded mortals with potential superpowers. Which means there should have been a lot more superheros in history and not just all of them showing up to fight Hitler.

He means Invasion!.

Notable for being the swiftly ignored origin for the Hitman comic, I think.

Nope, that was Bloodlines, specifically The Demon Annual #2 component.

Invasion! was a pretty much wholly self-contained 3-issue thingy (with tie-ins, of course, but you really didn't need them at all), and it's actually pretty good, unlike ole Bloodlines.

Also Blackgate burned down before the events of the game, leading to a bunch of non-crazy inmates beiong transferred to Arkham for holding until Blackgate re-opened. Bane had probably been there for a while though, since they were doing illegal experiments with Venom harvested from his body.

I was going to say, Bane was at Arkham so Dr. God I Hate Her So Much could do all those Venom tests on him.

Is "I can't see normally and have to use special glasses" the lie the alien was talking about?
No, the lie was that there was a secret weapon named Leviathan ("something ominous and imposing" sounding) in the works to defeat said bad guy that he was torturing Scott to learn about. Earlier, the team had had an entire physic conversation as well as a fake outloud one aboard a ship that they knew was bugged so dude there wouldn't know what the plan was, and the seeds of Leviathan were planted then.

"What other lies have you told?" and the immediate response is still a fan-drat-tastic moment.

It also shows where that white handprint on his chest came from. I don't think there had been any foreshadowing just how sad a story it was.
