Especially with a game as complex, enormous, and long-running as DF, taking the long route and doing things properly is definitely the correct approach.

This is exactly the kind of thing that makes me so glad that Toady is the one at the helm of Dwarf Fortress. A sensible person might've built a new UI or optimized some fluid math. Tarn Adams is building imaginations.

Well, it's got "Parody Montage" in the title. Which isn't really committing to the joke. Most of the time it's better to go straight-faced. Be as earnest about it as possible.

Plus it's not quite overedited enough. If you're going to go for stupid exaggeration, you gotta go way further than you think is remotely watchable. See the following video, which has basically been put through the video editing equivalent of repeated JPG recompression.

I remember getting Mayday's set in 2010 when I first discovered DF. I think it was 0.31. Always been my favorite look - clean, tidy, and readable, but still nice on the eyes.

I haven't actually booted up DF in a long time now but it warms my stupid little heart that so many people are having such a good time with the steam release :kimchi:
