I Failed At Anime 2022

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a manga series that's been written since 1987 by Hirohiko Araki about a family of dudes named JoJo going on bizarre adventures. Stardust Crusaders specifically is where JoJo's starts creating its own niche as a series and changes entirely from Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency.

THE STORY SO FAR

[Phantom Blood] is the first part of JoJo's Biarre Adventure. It follows the story of an English nobleman,[Jonathan Joestar]. Jonathan one day meets [Dio Brando], the son of a man who saved George Joestar (Jonathan's father) from death. After his father's mysterious death, Dio is given permission by George to live with the Joestars as a favor to his late father. Over the course of his stay Dio makes Jonathan's life hell until this culminates in Jonathan beating up Dio for burning his dog alive and kissing his girlfriend. After several years of peaceful living, Dio discovers a stone mask that was in the manor that allowed annoying who dripped blood on it to become a being more powerful than a human, a [Vampire]. Using the stone mask, Dio rejects his humanity and attempts to kill Jonathan. Jonathan defeats Dio, but at the cost of his father's life and the Joestar manor burning to the ground.

After recovering, Jonathan meets Will A. Zeppeli, who reveals that Dio is not dead. In order to defeat Dio, Jonathan must learn to master the ripple, a power that allows the user to channel the power of the sun and vaporize the undead. Using this Jonathan and Zeppeli head off to fight Dio. Over the course of their adventure, Zeppeli is killed and Jonathan meets a group of ripple users who have come to help. Confronting Dio in his castle Jonathan manages to defeat Dio and finish him for good. Unfortunately, Dio survives and seeks to kill Jonathan and take his body. Jonathan boards a boat having recently been married to his childhood sweetheart, Erina Pendolton (now Erina Joestar), not knowing Dio is on this very boat. Dio kills Jonathan, but the boat sinks to the bottom of the ocean burying Jonathan and Dio together. Erina escapes in Dio's coffin having brought a child with her as well and so the story of Jonathan Joestar ends.

[Battle Tendency], is the second part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The story continues from several decades after Phantom Blood and follows Jonathan's grandson, [Joseph Joestar]. Joseph moves to New York with his grandmother, Erina. Word comes in of the family friend, Robert E. O. Speedwagon, being killed in Mexico by their former ally, Straizo, who has turned himself into a vampire with the stone mask. After being attacked by and defeating Straizo, Joseph heads to Mexico to see if he Speedwagon is still alive. He comes upon a secret facility run by the Nazis who are holding Speedwagon and meets Rudol von Stroheim, who is trying to awaken a man inside of a pillar who has been asleep for 2,000 years. They succeed and name him Santana, but he proves to have abilities that even the vampires have never shown and kills most of the Nazis and fatally wound Stroheim. Joseph manages to defeat Santana using the sun to turn him into stone.

Joseph goes on to discover there are three remaining Pillar Men, all stronger than Santana. To help fight them he meets Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli, the Grandson of Will, and Lisa Lisa, a master of the Ripple, Caesar's teacher, and Joseph's long lost mother. The journey is long and arduous, Caesar dies much like his Grandfather before him, and Joseph manages to kill two of the Pillar Men until he confronts the leader, Kars. Kars used the Red Stone of Aja to make himself into a perfect being and be nigh unkillable. Joseph defeats him by launching him out of the earth's atmosphere and he freezes in the vacuum of space. Joseph goes on to marry Lisa Lisa's assistant and live a long life.

Fifty Years later, now 68, Joseph heads to Japan to visit his [Daughter] and [Grandson]...

Stardust Crusaders, is the third part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It follows Joseph's grandson, Jotaro Kujo, who travels the globe with a group of friends to save his mother from dying, by killing the revived DIO. To do this Joseph teaches Jotaro about a power that Jotaro believes is a curse, STAND. A ghostly figure that stands by the users side, stands have all kinds of powers that range from normal to the outright strange. This is where the true Bizarre Adventure starts.

Characters

Jotaro Kujo (Stand: Star Platinum)
Voice Actor: Daisuke Ono/Matthew Mercer
PV: RAW SUB

Jotaro Kujo, son of Holly and Sadao Kujo, is a 17-Year old high-school student. Jotaro's a tough guy who usually lets his fists do the talking. He's pretty smart-mouth and usually if he doesn't like anything he's more than willing to just beat it up, but belying the cooler-than-thou attitude is a momma's boy who's rather intelligent. Likes Fish.

Joseph Joestar (Stand: Hermit Purple)
Voice Actor: Unshou Ishizuka/Richard Epcar
PV: RAW SUB

Joseph Joestar, Jotaro's grandfather, the previous protagonist, and New York's most successful real estate tycoon. Joseph's still a giant goof, just now he's a giant goof who dotes on his daughter and grandson. Despite aging, Joseph is still built a like poo poo brickhouse and is still a pretty smart guy who can make the best of any bad situation. Does not like the Japanese.

Mohammed Avdol (Stand: Magician's Red)
Voice Actor: Kenta Miyake/Chris Tergliafera
PV: RAW SUB

Muhammad Avdol, an old friend of Joseph and Egyptian fortune teller. Avdol's rather serious minded and knowledgeable. He's a very moderate person who acts as the voice of reason to the rest of the group, but even he knows how to cut loose once in a while too. Despite his serious nature he's something of a showman, taking his time and being very grandiose about his fights. Likes Ice Cream.

Noriaki Kakyoin (Stand: Hierophant Green)
Voice Actor: Daisuke Hirakawa/Kyle Hebert
PV: RAW SUB

Noriaki Kakyoin, student and fellow classmate of Jotaro. Kakyoin's a loyal friend and very blunt. While he comes off as cold and sometimes distant, he does genuinely seek the best for the group and likes being friends with everyone. Although Kakyoin can sometimes feel the need to apologize for things that aren't necessarily his fault and seeks a repentance of sorts. Likes cherries.

[timg]http://i.imgur.com/snNjTy5.jpg[/url][/timg]
Jean-Pierre Polnareff (Stand: Silver Chariot)
Voice Actor: Fuminori Komatsu
PV: RAW SUB

Jean-Pierre Polnareff, womanizer and nomadic Frenchman. Polnareff's a very... showy kind of guy. He likes shouting, making grand gestures, and in general presents himself as a heroic sort of guy. Although he's actually kind of a klutz and goon, Polnareff generally means well and is the most expressive member of the team. Likes dogs.

DIO (Stand: ???)
Voice Actor: Takehito Koyasu/Patrick Seitz

Dio is back and he's better than ever. Having amassed several people to fight for him, Dio's whereabouts are unknown as is his stand power. Likes birds.

:siren:RULES:siren:
  1. No Spoilers! Even though this series is 25+ years old, some people still have not seen it or heard of it. Do not bring up manga spoilers, do not bring up spoilers from the previous OVA adaptation. If you want to discuss something that even may be a spoiler, please take it to the general JoJo / manga thread.
  2. If someone DOES post a spoiler, don't point it out. It could be something really innocuous that a new viewer wouldn't pick up the first time, there's no reason to bring it up, just report it and let the mods handle it.
  3. Discussion of Parts 1 and 2 are free reign. While it's not necessary to have watched them to enjoy Part 3, it's assumed that you have, and there's quite a few things from the first few parts that to do return.
  4. YOU MUST POST IN FULL-WIDTH ALPHANUMERIC WHEN GETTING HYPED!

http://www.crunchyroll.com/jojos-bizarre-adventure

I hope you guys are excited for this. I've been waiting for a good Part 3 anime ever since I read it and there's just so much crazy stuff. Stardust Crusaders is such an influence on Japanese culture, hell it's pretty big even just to the manga industry over there. It's such a classic shonen story, but Araki adds enough of his own twists to make it even more fun and great to experience despite that. David Productions already proved themselves well with the first season of JoJos, their only flaw being the animation. If the PVs are anything to go by, that seems to have been fixed, but only time will really tell on that sort of thing. Nonetheless the voices are great so far, the music has a very 90s feeling to it, and the character designs evolving as they did in the manga is still great. We still don't know how many episodes there are going to be, but I trust David Productions to know what they're doing here enough to say that doesn't matter as much. I am so excited JoJos is back, ya'll.

The first episode is one April 4th, get ready for JoJo to be back and all other animes to be USELESS!

Crunchyroll will be streaming the first three episodes of the English dub of Stardust Crusaders at midnight (PST) to coincide with their airing at Anime Expo.

http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2014/06/23-1/crunchyroll-to-stream-english-dub-of-jojos-bizarre-adventure-stardust-crusaders

It is unknown why they are skipping Parts 1 and 2, but no one really knows what to expect after these three episodes at all.

I Failed At Anime 2022

Notable Notes
-Favorite color is any transparent color.
-Favorite movie is Never Cry Wolf.
-Favorite sportsman is sumo wrestler, Chiyonofuji Mitsugu.
-Jotaro's father, Sadao Kujo, is named Japanese jazz musician (Saxophonist, specifically), Sadao Watanabe and Kujo himself is a jazz musician (Also saxophonist).
-Jotaro himself is actually based off of the characters of American actor,Clint Eastwood. On top of the cold personality, sharp tongue, and the almost insane ease for which he can just destroy a man, Jotaro's one liners also come off as somewhat Eastwood-esque. They're calm, cool, and used to punctuate the ending to a fight or even after it. Eastwood actually met Araki rather recently and talked to him about how Jotaro is based off of him and even showed him an image of Jotaro posing and Eastwood even did the pose himself.
-Jotaro's card is the Star, signifying hope and serenity. Jotaro, while anger prone and foul-mouthed does generally have the interest of others at heart and people do rely on him, with the calmness of mind needed to even not shake at having a friggin' parasite infest his body.
- His opposing cards being the Devil (Pessimism), Tower (End of a Journey), and the Moon (Wavering feelings). His reinforcing cards are the Fool (Faith) and the Empress (Love).

Notable Notes
-Favorite color is Marine Blue.
-Favorite foods are fried chicken and chewing gum.
-Favorite actor is Jean Gabin.
-Favorite animal are dogs.
-His hobbies are collecting manga and comic books.
-Joseph's is the Hermit, signifying guidance and solitude. Joseph acts as Jotaro's mentor of a sorts, teaching him about stands and showing general knowledge of the world, he and Avdol guide them along the journey. Among this he lives a comfortable life in New York as a real estate tycoon, but is still trying to get Holly and Jotaro there so he can be completely happy.
-His opposing cards are Lovers (Sexuality) and the World (Socializing). His reinforcing card is the High Priestess (Withdrawing).
-In the JJBA Capcom fighter, Joseph's moves use a combination of the ripple of the and hermit purple. However, Joseph's ripple super is one big reference to Battle Tendency as it flashes images of Lisa Lisa and his training with Caesar. Young Joseph cameos as a hidden playable character in said fighter and features several moves from Part 2 like the coke bottle, Aja stone, and the same super as above, but this time it flashes pictures of only Caesar as Joseph screams his name.
-The Joestar family curse lives strong in him as he has survived three plane crashes. Despite his high mortality rate, Joseph has lived the longest of any Joestar after George I.

Notable notes
-Favorite color is Orange.
-Favorite movie is Midnight Run.
-Favorite food is Sushi.
-His hobby is collecting old books.
-Avdol's namesake is somewhat difficult to pin down. The common belief is that it's a reference to Paula Abdul (Hence why some fan translations used Abdul for his name) and given Araki's musical taste it would support that, but there is also a Saudi singer with a very similar name, Mohammed Abdu. It's so similar it seems like it should be more than a coincidence, but no one really knows.
-The Crossfire Hurricane is a reference to a lyric from Rolling Stones song, Jumpin' Jack Flash.
-Avdol's is the Magician, signifying focus and power. Avdol being the most rational and calm member of the group by far knows how to analyze a situation and realize what must be done to overcome the obstacles and move forward. Avdol also springs forth with sudden bursts of energy which sort of betray his calm demeanor, he's surprisingly showy for such a chill dude.
-His opposing cards are High Priestess (Nonaction) and the Hanged Man (Suspended action). His reinforcing card is the Chariot (Being forceful).

Notable Notes
-Favorite color is Shiny Green.
-Favorite food is cherries.
-Favorite actor is Masakazu Tamura.
-Favorite musician is Sting.
-Favorite sportsmen are baseball team, the Yomiuri Giants.
-Kakyoin is the only major character in the whole series who is not named after a musician of some sort and neither is his stand. His namesake actually is a town where Araki was raised in his home city of Sendai, where he also held an art exhibition for 25 years of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
-Due to Kakyoin obsessively talking about Jotaro's mom that one time, fan theory is he wants to mac on Holly.
-Kakyoin's card is the Hierophant, signifying education and conforming. Kakyoin being taken all over the world by his parents throughout his life has some world knowledge, more so than the average high school student and is generally knowledgeable. He's also been something of a loner for a lot of his life, so journeying with the group is finally giving him some place to belong and have friends.
-His opposing cards are the Fool (Unorthodox) and the Lovers (Personal beliefs). His reinforcing card is the Emperor (Following rules).

Notable notes
-His namesake is founding member of the Eagles, Glenn Frey. The kana in both of their names is also pretty similar, グレー・フライ (Gure Furai) and グレン・フライ (Guren Furai).
-Tower of Gray is a fight in the PS version of Heritage for the Future. You can't actually play as or unlock him, he's merely a fight for Kakyoin in the super story mode.
-Gray Fly's card is the Tower, signifying falling down and things suddenly changing. Gray Fly is the group's first actual malevolent stand user, he gets on the plane with them and causes it to crash delaying their arrival in Cairo for a good while. He probably also brings a rather abrupt end to people's lives too being an assassin and whatnot.
-His opposing cards are Chariot (Control), Temperance (Contained), and Star (Calm). His reinforcing cards are Death (Sweeping impact) and Sun (Enlightenment).

Notable Notes
-Favorite color is Gold.
-His hobbies are playing any kinds of sports.
-His namesakes are both French Formula One Racer, Jean-Pierre Jarier and French folk singer, Michel Polnareff.
-Polnareff debuts differently in the OVA. In it, he actually is on Strength waiting for the group. The fight with Avdol plays out the same way, but Polnareff turns out to have joined Dio through being promised his sister's killer rather than a flesh bud.
-While Polnareff was called Polnareff for well over a decade in several western translations of JoJo (OVA, Viz Manga, Capcom game) and even the recent Crunchyroll translation which changed the names of Santana and Bruford kept the name. For whatever reason, most likely being insanely safe on the names, Namco-Bandai in their localization of All Star Battle changed his name to "Eiffel" more than likely a reference to the famous Eiffel Tower, but some like to joke it's for Eiffel 65.
-Polnareff is the inspiration for KoF character, Benimaru Nikaido, to the point that the developers literally just call him Polnareff when they talk about him.
-Polnareff is also quite possibly a reference to Inigo Montoya in personality and story. They both seek to avenge a family member of the men that killed them with strange hands, both are master swordsmen, and both are rather flashy.
-Polnareff's tarot card is the Chariot, signifying control and assertiveness. Polnareff is someone who holds to his convictions even when possessed by the evil bud of a vampire, he is always chivalrous, sporting, and offers a fair fight even if he uses some tricks during it. He will explain his powers and seek to win through skill and cunning rather than outright deception and strength. He's also quite assertive in his persistence in joining the group, finding his sister's killer at all costs, and even hitting on women.
-His opposing cards are Strength (Persuasion) and Hanged Man (Acceptance). His reinforcing card is the Magician (Power of Will).

Notable Notes
-The Imposter Captain Tennille's namesake is of course American pop duo, Captain & Tennille. His name change from the Crunchyroll subs however is Captain Dragon which is the last name of "Captain" Daryl Dragon."
-The Imposter Captain is a QTE boss fight in the PS version of Heritage for the Future.
-The Imposter Captain is the only character whose actual name is never revealed in the series or supplementary material, he is just known as "The Imposter Captain Tennille".
-The Imposter Captain's tarot card is the Moon, signifying illusions and losing direction. The Imposter's goal from the outset is to hinder the group's journey and through this he has killed Captain Tennille and taken his place so as to steer the group off course from Cairo through killing them or at least leaving them stranded at sea. Dark Blue Moon is also a stand based around the sea a common fear shared amongst people afraid of the deep unknown, symbolizing another aspect of the Moon (Fear).
-The Moon's opposing cards are Star (Serenity) and Sun (Clarity). It has no reinforcing numbered cards.

Notable Notes
-Forever's namesake is the second album of the Wu-Tang Clan, Wu-Tang Forever.
-Forever is a boss fight in the PS version of Heritage for the Future. In his boss fight you are playing as Jotaro in a first-person version view moving a reticle around trying to shoot at Forever. As this is going on he is throwing any number of objects at you and Ann can pop up, if you hit her you lose health.
-Forever is in the OVA, but instead of being killed by Jotaro he is killed by Polnareff.
-Forever was never actually named in the series, his name was given to him in an extra edition of Jump asking about villains which is where he got his name.
-Forever is based on the orangutan from the 1986 horror film, Link.
-Forever's tarot card is Strength, signifying strength (Duh) and patience. Forever being an orangutan is of course very strong and Strength's power can very depending on what it's possessing. Forever, also had a good hold on the fight of Jotaro with just patience, he managed to wait quite a while so everyone was split or helpless to actually attack them. He spends quite a bit of time just waiting for the moment to strike. It is the moment where he gets angry and strats throwing a fit that spells the end for him.
-His opposing card is Chariot (Control). His reinforcing card is the Hanged Man (Patience).

Notable Notes
-Devo's namesake is the 70s American rock band, Devo. In the Viz Media translation of the manga his named was changed to reference a song from Santana, Soul Sacrifice. This name would carry on into the All Star Battle and Crunchyroll translations.
-Devo is playable in JoJo's Biarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future, but the doll is used as his stand rather than his actual stand which shows up for his guarding animation.
-Devo's tarot card is the Devil, signifying bondage and feeling hopeless. Bondage in this case is a bit too literal given he ended up binding Polnareff to the bottom of the bed, but hopelessness sort of feeds into his power. Through holding a grudge and hating his enemy Devo must be in a situation where he is hurt and feeling terrified allowing him to feel his despair.
-Devo's opposing cards are the Fool (Belief) and Star (Hope). He has no numbered reinforcing cards.

Notable Notes
-Rubber Soul's namesake is the 1965 Beatles album of the same name. Rubber Soul was never actually named in the manga, having a similar case to Forever where the name came after.
-Rubber Soul is a playable character in the Heritage for the Future fighting game where he acts as a palette swap of Kakyoin, although plays very differently. This version features his torture and a special intro where he eats the beetles and grows larger referencing the manga more. Of course, he also has a taunt where he rolls the cherry in his mouth.
-Rubber Soul's tarot card is Temperance, signifying moderation and health. This is another weird one, like Devo. Rubber Soul's character doesn't exactly fall into the category of this card too well as most of the moderation in his actions comes from him trying to fool Jotaro with how he perceives Kakyoin and alleviate the problems through talking. It only figures this guy would end up fighting the most patient member of the group. I guess his health comes from the fact that the dude ate beetles too, those gotta be made of proteins and other good stuff.
-Rubber Soul's opposing card is Tower (Extremities). His reinforcing card is the World (Synthesis).

Notable Notes
-Hol Horse's namesake is the 1970s R&B group, Full Force, however it was believed his name was a reference to Hall & Oates for a while.
-Hol Horse is a playable character in both Heritage for the Future & All Star Battle fighting games. In both games he is able to redirect his bullets and even uses the Hanged Man in some of his specials and supers. He is actually the only playable character of the Part 3 cast in ASB who is not a protagonist or major antagonist.
-Hol Horse's tarot card is The Emperor, signifying leadership and authority. This one seems a bit ironic at first, but it does fit Hol Horse. Hol Horse's philosophy is to always lead the life of #2, he never wants to be #1. It's best to always let the strong handle everything and you act as backup. Despite this, Hol Horse will usually be the one to take the lead in fights because he is so confident in his partner, that he essentially acts as bait. He's the one to lead the plans, start the fire, and get everything going so his much stronger partner can handle all of the dirty work.
-Hol Horse's opposing card is Empress (Freedom of Self). His reinforcing cards are Hierophant (Conforming) and Justice (Law).

Notable Notes
-J. Geil's name is the 1960s rock group, J. Geils Band and his name change (From ASB and Crunchyroll) is their biggest hit single, Centerfold.
-J Geil's never been playable in a JoJo game despite being more of an important antagonist than most Part 3 villains. He ends up getting packaged into Hol Horse's moveset.
-J. Geil's tarot card is The Hanged Man, signifying letting go and suspension. J. Geil having a partner in Hol Horse is great for him, as someone as loud and bombastic as Hol Horse is bound to draw attention away from him. He's able to plan his attack accordingly and strike when the time is right, allowing his Hanged Man to hop from reflection to reflection. He's also Polnareff's goal, killing him will finally bring Polnareff some peace of mind from his sister's death or will it? The Hanged Man is a tricky card.
-J. Geil's opposing cards are Magician (Action) and Chariot (Self-Assertion). His reinforcing cards are Fool (Going with the Flow), High Priestess (Suspended Activity), and Strength (Patience).

Notable Notes
-Nena's namesake is the same as the 1980s German pop singer.
-Nena is a QTE boss in the PS version of Heritage for the Future.
-In the OVA Nena does show up and plays the same role she did in the manga up to saving Hol Horse from the group, but she never actually fights the group.
-Nena's tarot card is the Empress, signifying abundance and mothering. The Empress as a whole relates to Nena's power. By having her own blood pour onto another's body, she forms a new life with the host of Empress. Allowing the person hosting it to take care of it and help it grow. The Empress also allows for an excess in many things: food, nurturing from the father, and eventually, their life.
-Nena's opposing cards are Emperor (Order) and Death (Literally every principle of the card). Her reinforcing cards are Lovers (Pleasure) and Star (Generosity).

Notable Notes
-ZZ's namesake is pretty obviously the American rock band, ZZ Top.
-ZZ is a QTE boss in the PS version of Heritage for the Future.
-ZZ's tarot card is the Wheel of Fortune, signifying movement and turning points. ZZ drives a car and spends half of the fight literally doing a myriad of silly poo poo before finally deciding to try and kill them for reals.
-ZZ's got no opposing or reinforcing cards in the Major Arcana, this was a pretty easy entry overall as you can see.

Notable Notes
-Enya's namesake is the Irish singer, Enya. In the English versions her name usually ends up getting changed to "Enyaba" which just means "Old Lady Enya."
-Enya is a boss in the PS version of Heritage for the Future. In her boss fight you play Jotaro as if he were in a side-scrolling beat 'em up. You kill her zombies until the counter for them runs down, Enya comes onto the screen and then you have to beat her. As she's out Justice will try and attack you as a hovering fixture in the background until you hit Enya. During this her zombies will also still try to attack you.
-Enya in the OVA is portrayed somewhat differently. On her debut she is actually a beautiful woman (Still with two right hands), but this is a disguise made by Justice, apparently. It's not until her part of the story you see her original appearance where she is switching between her original and disguised appearances to fool the group. It's not until Jotaro pulls the trick he pulled on Imposter Captain Tennille's in the original story that she reveals herself as Justice's stand user.
-Enya's tarot card is Justice, signifying responsibility and decision making. Enya's sought to make the group suffer dearly for killing her son. She feels that they and Hol Horse are responsible for what happened and she will make them suffer for it. On top of this she acts as Dio's consigliere making all of the choices for who will fight the group, at what points, and what they will do. Ironically enough, what caused her death was the decision of the same person who she made the choices for.
-Enya's got no opposing cards in the major arcana. Enya's reinforcing cards are Emperor (Justice) and Judgment (Accepting the Past).

I picked the Stone Cold tag because the manga thread has the exact same one and I want to decrease the chances of mistaking one for the other. That may sound silly, but I think that's enough. That and Stardust Crusaders is the Stone Cold of JJBA. I don't care about whatever other changes were made, but I'd like it if you can change that back, at least.

I'm pretty sure they could fit it into 26 episodes pretty well. If they needed more episodes, they could probably get more anyways given how important this is to them.

While I'm asking questions, I have no idea why it took so insanely long for someone to finally animate such a popular series, in whole, properly. Can anyone explain why to me? (Besides the Forum Ghost.)

Araki is very peculiar about JoJo's in other mediums. It's why you see so few JoJo games (Five) and all of the anime adapations prior to the current anime are OVAs and one movie. Hell, there's a story going around that the reason the Part 1 movie never got out on DVD was because both the fans and Araki HATED it. Speedwagon only appeared for the Ogre Street battle, other side characters never appeared, and the movie was too short. It also featured character designs that are even more fashion victim than Araki's original ones...

I'm not saying that's not something Dio wouldn't wear, it just looks bad. This was also done by the same studio who did the OVAs so maybe this was a breaking point on Araki with an anime adapation for a while. Anyways, for the 25th Anniversary along with the 25 Years Exhibit and All Star Battle game being confirmed, the Anime was greenlit presumably to give it another go and this time it turned out really well.

I think Araki might have become less protective of his series a bit more over the years. If the story about the Part 5 game is true then he had a problem with doing name changes back in the early 2000s. However as of recent, he's more than willing to allow name changes for his characters and such if it means it gets published and more often than not the localization teams ask him for input on what the changes should be. Viz had stated they were contacting him for his opinion on certain changes they wanted to make and he was very agreeable and even drew them some new stuff for the Western release of the Part 3 manga.

It makes me hopeful for whenever the anime gets put out over here that it will be treated very well by whomever is handling it (Most likely Viz).

I'll go ahead and add that to the OP. I haven't heard any of Kanno's stuff before this, but from what I've been hearing from the PVs they've got the music for this show down. Also, reposting this from the manga thread...

On a happy note, the OP for Part 3 has been confirmed as "Stand Proud" by Hashimoto Jin and ZENTA.

I find it very hard to believe DP could not get more episodes if they wanted to, there will probably be no cuts.

I have never been able to understand why people feel so damned strongly about subs. If there are other options to choose from, it's not like you're being railroaded into the "everyone talks funny" version.

Not trying to single you out or anything, I just remember GG getting a ton of flack for their JoJo subs. Seemed a kinda stupid effort, considering their antics with other shows.

Arguing about sub groups is a silly thing in general, but even I thought after a while that GG's subs were getting to be stupid. JoJo is already a goofy series on its own, it doesn't need help unless you're gonna actually be funny or just make a straight up gag sub (Which is what Duwang was anyways). Just because an alternative exists does not mean you can't discuss why one thing is bad, no matter how silly the subject is.

Added to the OP and thank loving god, now I don't have to wait half a week for good subs.

Most of Part 4 has been fixed with good translations and the parts that haven't been fixed are significantly more readable than the earlier parts. That being said, when you get to Part 5 that's where you'll probably hit a snag as not even a third of it has been fixed and the existing translations for it are horrendous.

For those not in the know, there was a Stardust Crusaders OVA that was released between 93 and 94, it was about six episodes. It contains stuff from the latter half of Stardust Crusaders including the final battle (Not everything though, there is a lot of cut stuff). For whatever reason, they decided to finally get to making a prequel for it six years later which was 7 episodes and it contains the former part of the series. There's even a noticeable change in the art style, which makes it really jarring watching the episodes in order and Jotaro suddenly shifts from looking like Kenshiro to looking like Diet Kenshiro. Both halves have a huge number of cut fights and scenes from them and only really cover what's important to the overall plot.

These are the same guys who would go on to make the Phantom Blood movie that Araki hated and never saw the light of day after it finished its run in theaters.

Both Jonathan and Joseph's birthmarks are shown in the anime prior to Stardust Crusaders, but Jonathan's is more obscured than Joseph's.

I would say I'm surprised that they didn't fix the coffin thing with Dio, but then again you really can't fix that sort of thing, I guess. I mean it'd be pretty dumb if Dio brought a second coffin with him for no reason other than to set up that he was coming back in Part 3, so enjoy some of these retcons. Although, it's not like this series is short of things that are big leaps in logic so whatevs.

I mean at the end of the day it's no big deal and it's not like anyone's going to be less excited about Dio because he summoned up a shiny new coffin. It's just that this is sort of a recurring trend you will see with Araki where he will just up and change something for no real reason.

Well, didn't Joseph say something about Stand usage having something or another to do with breathing?

He says it has to do with your life force and energy, not breathing.

Captain Baal

Yeah, that line is being taken too seriously. Jotaro literally had fire prohibiting him from breathing which was killing him, it's kinda natural something tied to your life would start losing power as you die. I mean Star Platinum choked out Magician's Red and Avdol received the damage as a result, I think it's pretty obvious whatever happens to your stand happens to you and vice versa.

Some stands are simple, some are complicated, some are outright insane, and some are Araki expressing his love for the horror genre.

You will find something to like about stands after a while. As someone who never cared about the Ripple as Kung fu magic is the most typical thing in shonen manga, I readily welcomed stands when they first appeared.

It's more that Stands were something new because everyone in japan was loving sick of kung fu powers and even though Araki used them in an interesting way, it does not change that ghosts with special powers are infinitely cooler.

This is not a difficult concept to grasp.

Was it really because of that? I imagined that he read a book about spirit powers and thought it sounded cool.

There's no actual given reason for WHY the change happened, he just did it. I guess he was inspired by something or got into his own groove and wanted to do that, it's not like he needs a reason for wanting to do something different than what most shonen manga was doing at the time.

Like this isn't even a spoiler thing, you guys are trying kind of hard to push Jotaro and he's my favorite protagonist, but you seriously need to kind of chill on that. The new episode's out tomorrow, let people build their own expectations, if they don't like him, whatever. You can argue with them when they've got more of a reason than "HE'S NOT JOSEPH."

These weeks need to go by faster, is what I'm saying. Let's just look at some funny pictures until then...

Cool, I can go and cringe at the changed names. Of course, that Robert E.O. Speedwagon kept his name is all I could really ask for.

Does Amazon do that thing where they ship preordered games as soon as they arrive, instead of on the release date?

Amazon will usually ship the game the day before its release date and it will be at your home by the next day from my experience. If you want it for sure on Day 1, yeah you should probably go digital.

I dunno this one has a lot of little details in it that make it fun to look out for when I watch it a lot. Also, the JoJo being more pronounced at one point in the song earns tons of points from me along with the rhythmic pummeling near the end of it.

I think the song's pretty good, definitely not up to Sono Chi No Sadame, but I like it more than Bloody Stream. That's not to say Bloody Stream is bad, but it doesn't have the lyrics "JOJO" in it or reference the title, so it's just another OP song to me.

Finally got a chance to watch the episode and holy poo poo everything was great. The animation is still so fuckin smooth, especially Hierophant Green. How much time did they spend animating it? Also the additions to the episode were pretty funny like the Matryoshka of girls fawning over Jotaro and Joseph's racist everything. They sexed up the nurse to the point where it was comedic too, wow.

Oh and Kakyoin's entrance on the stairs was hilarious with his lovely scarf. Would die laughing again.

HellCopter posted:

I agree, the song isn't nearly as cool but the visuals are a great representation of part 3, as compared to parts 1 and 2.

That can't have been the ED song, right? Right? It sounded like a Saturday morning cartoon credits theme.

Did anyone not realize this was the theme that plays during some of the trailers and like past the halfway point in the episode where Joyart starts doing his thing? It's pretty obvious that was not the ED and that song loving rocks so it would still be a rad ED anyways.
