I've been replaying Infamous 2 while waiting for Friday and I'm glad they're focusing on mobility powers as those are super fun in 2.

Agreed, my favorite part of the games is dashing around the city with cool powers, and having even more ways to do that is great. Just from seeing the smoke power being used to shoot you to a roof and the neon power letting you dash up a building at high speed made me drool.

I hope that there via upgrades or in the other powersets that there are movement abilities that also cause damage, I really enjoyed the fireburst thing from 2.

I didn't realize the Infamous canon was that full on comic-book insane. Thanks again for the summary RA.Tatum Girlparts posted:Also there seems to be a Saints Row/Red Faction style 'territory control' thing, anything gold and black that has the bad guys' logo and such on them (I forgot who they are, the paramilitary dudes) can be busted up and you can do things like free or kill prisoners and all. I have no idea what happens when you kick the bad guys out of an area but I assume they spawn way less and maybe things look like less of a totalitarian hipster blend? Besides pacifying the DUP when you take over their territories, parts of the map will be revealed (collectibles included, I believe) after taking out DUP communication trailers, which jam your map. It's likely the ARG makers were lazy and simply made that the only outcome to the quiz. Or it signifies something else. Rinkles fucked around with this message at 20:14 on Mar 17, 2014 |

I wonder what ridiculous stuff they'll do with the storyline in this game. 1 was pretty goofy and 2 was a little goofy. Maybe they'll take a more serious route this time? Either way, I'll probably eat that poo poo up. I didn't have a problem with the first two games. I think my standards might be low.

I never did complete Infamous 2, but did they ever explain what the plague was, other than it being vaguely related to the ray Sphere and Conduits?

bobby2times posted:Snagged an early copy. Looks pretty nice, but it's definitely "a game", though that might partly be the stream quality. Lip synch looks really nice, as do the animations. There's definitely some hangovers from last-gen, but it looks leaps and bounds better than any launch titles for the PS3/360, and better than all but a few late-last-gen games.

I think the PS4 streamer caps somewhere below 720p (500-some p?), so it should look a bit nicer on TV.

In case anyone else was interested, I looked in to what happened to FBI Agent Moya after the first game. She died in the comic tie in before Infamous 2. Oh well.

The collector's edition of this game apparently comes cased in a premium holo folo cover, so it's even more comic book than we thought.

So do the bonus missions that have to do with the paper trail website and the murder and manga insert that come with the game only come with the limited edition?

I can absorb bricks and mortar and use them to quickly build walls and structures.

I'm torn on if I should buy this online or in a shop. On one hand I could preorder right now and take advantage of the spend $60 get $10 deal on PSN. On the other hand it looks like one of those games that might be something I want to trade in later in the year.

You're almost certain to get more than $10 back for a trade-in/SA Mart/Ebay/whatever unless you hold it for long periods of time.

I'm not gonna pretend I still play my old Infamous games all the time but the other two for me have been good 'I'm bored and got nothing better to do and can't think of what to play, I'll gently caress around in this game for a bit' type games.

It doesn't sound too beefy on content. 10-15 hours for a single play through. Though there is the DLC and ARG linked side mission on top of that. Personally, I almost never sell my games despite rarely replaying them.

The day developers stop trying to pass off target renders as legit screenshots will be a glorious one. Most of the time they're at least close, but for extreme examples look at Red Steel (the Wii launch title). Pre-release screenshots and actual release footage are basically night and day.
