Scatterfold posted:Machinedrum UW+; Blofeld; Wavestation; MC-202; TR-606 and Reaktor. Lots (too much? no) sidechain compression and a lot of tape compression too. It's a bit of a departure in terms of my style, but the one thing I've always used are found sounds and recordings of things irl so they're here too. And radio static. And porn. The sidechaining sounds great on the first two tracks, but seems a bit too extreme on the third one, at least for my taste!

Wanted to put something up for OSCtober. Here is a track I'm currently working on created with the Makenoise Shared System and my homemade Atari Punk Console. However, everything was sequenced in Ableton Live. It still pretty rough mix-wise too https://soundcloud.com/devin-powers-music/sketch-2-test-mix-1

Made a short little ambient track for the winter synth thing. Might do something more upbeat later on if I get the time, but I didn't want to completely miss out. Track was created with the iPad app Orphion and Absynth. Sent midi from Orphion to Absynth and jammed this track out. https://soundcloud.com/sinerider/escaping-the-cold

BKPR posted:I like it. reminds me I gotta learn to make better use of Absynth instead of twiddling out sine wave patches all day. Thanks! Yeah absynth can be pretty fun to mess around with. BKPR posted:No one else has mentioned it so I'll point out that Max 7 is out now. Aside from autotuning and pitch-independent time stretching, it has a pretty extensive modular synth built in and let's you use M4L stuff. Apparently also improvements to VST integration, though it doesn't seem to let you use instruments. I've been using the trial the past couple days. So far I can say it's a major improvement in performance, especially using Jitter. Although my favorite feature so far has been the crash recovery system. No more losing your patches when it decides to crash. I've started working with Jitter for the first time recently to generate some visuals for a composition I'm working on. I've found it crashing a ton for whatever reason so it's nice to have a bit of security and not have to worry about saving every step of the way. Both the BEAP and Vizzie modules are really great too imo Does the new VST implementation really not work with instruments? That's weird because you could use them with Max 6 with vst~

Dotcom Jillionaire posted:Nebulae is definitely on my list of immediate modular buys. Phonogene is also on there, I've been wrestling with maybe wanting the Tyme Sefari instead but I think the Phonogene is more immediate in its functionality. I wonder if there is a good shootout between the Nebulae and Phonogene somewhere because I can only justify putting one of these fine modules in my rig. I can kind of give you my quick thoughts on Nebuale vs. Phonogene. I don't own the Phonogene but I've used it quite a bit and really like it. They both have similar functionality to them with the whole granular capabilities. What I really like about the Phonogene is being able to record it whatever I like. On the Nebulae everything has to be loaded in through USB so that can be a pain to have to load up the computer if there is a new sample you want to load into the module. The Nebulae has the plus of being able to load custom csound programs into it. So you can essentially completely change how the module works if you know a bit of CSound or PD. The Korgasmatron is pretty nice. Definitely has the ms20 filter sound to it. It's convenient to have the dual filters too with crossfade functionality. Like you can get cool sounding feedback sounds by patching the filters together. When I was putting my modular together a few weeks ago I was debating whether to go with the Tiptop Z2040 filter and the Corgasmatron. The Corgasmatron seemed like a better choice for my small system.

Mr. Sharps posted:Nice! Sort of similar to my own system, though yours seems to have a lot more random voltage sources. I have an Ardcore plus the expander module. It's super convenient to be able to load in whatever sketch you need and change it's function. I use mine a lot as a sequencer and clock divider. I haven't gone through all the sketches or attempted to make my own yet, so I can't really say how well it would work in the context of a musique concrete. But, if your friend is looking for something a bit bigger, I'd highly recommend either the Phonogene or the Nebulae.

Dotcom Jillionaire posted:I must know everything you can tell me about the Ardcore, I don't own one but I like the concept of it (reprogrammable, Arduino is easy to work with, it can fill in for any function or module you may be missing in your rack). The Euroduino looks attractive as well, it's smaller than the Ardcore and it has programmable switches (though the Ardcore has more knobs). I assume there are more sketches available for the Ardcore though. Can you point to any good resources for downloading Ardcore sketches? What cool functions have you come across for the module? Well you definitely have the right idea about it. The best part is it's pretty much endless functionality. I bought the Ardcore and expander module used and the guy sent me a folder filled with sketches. You can find a bunch of github too. Here are the main snazzyfx sketches https://github.com/darwingrosse/ArdCore-Code There are some interesting sketches on muffwiggler too http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=106377

toadee posted:This is really nice! Got quite a BoC feel to it at times. How was the OP-1 used here? Is it "tape looping" the guitar and adding the warble? It's not doing too much heavy lifting in this track. I had a little loop set up that was supplying the background ambiance. I sampled the music box into the OP-1s sampler engine and overdubbed a few different notes of it. I had the same sample set up in Live's sampler and I triggered notes with Push while playing a bit of guitar here and there. Everything was running through a bunch of send effects to make it washy. The wobbly sound was a little max4live effect I made put on the guitar channel.

Had a guitar center gift card so I decided to jump the gun on a Korg SQ-1 to add to my Eurorack setup. Loving the thing. It feels like it's built well too which is surprising. Picked up a Chord module from Qu-bit to add to my rack. Really liking the sounds I'm getting out of it so far. Although, it's huge and making me want to invest in a bigger eurorack case Here is some ambient noodling with the Chord and Dixie sequenced by an SQ-1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyA2C34vpeI By the way, has anyone gotten any of the 2hp modules? I'm thinking of grabbing a few to maximize the space on my 3U system and add some more functionality.
