In a perfect world we would also help those that need a leg up and not stomp on their face repeatedly for eternity. But nope. Healthcare (ambulance and dentistry included) should be a basic living right in this day and age, not something dictated to you by wealth or happen stance. Every citizen pays equally for the right to use the service when it is needed.

It's been pointed out to me that Australia has reached a new level of capitalism, by seeing that there was a monopoly on state sponsored torture and death, and brought the wonders of the free market by creating competition. Which means that asylum seekers now have choice. Be tortured and killed in their home country, or be tortured and killed in an Australian sponsored death camp. It's like a liberals wet dream.

I once worked with a child who'd been on lithium since they were 6.  When I got diagnosed I was so frightened of being prescribed lithium that I would cry myself to sleep.TBF the crying myself to sleep bit was also probably a little bit of the manic depression. But gently caress lithium.

My mate got put on SSRI's and long story short he moved to his extended families farm away from prying eyes (and a more peaceful, relaxing setting) just to ween himself off them because you can't just prescribe people drugs for mental things at the drop of a hat because *WONDER DRUG* Also his extended family treated him differently once they knew he was trying to stop using them (they didn't even know he was on them to start with). Depression in Australia never gets talked about, no one knows how to deal with people who are dealing with it and meds are commonly thrown at people who have it as a cure all without treating the underlying problems at all.
