I kind of wish they'd go to some university and grab one of the dozen or so "automated writing" algorithms floating around and get some really procedurally generated mini-missions. Even Lwaxana marrying the warp core would be an improvement.

360° beams almost make me want to play with non-tholian carriers again. Too bad the Atrox's boff layout still sucks (a secondary deflector would help, but I don't think it's getting one).

Holy poo poo that "free to wait" bullshit needs to die though. At least it should lower the price of zen a lot.

I kind of wish they'd make a 9x9 grid of class/shiptype traits. Like for example a tac trait that boosted the damage bonus from sensor scan, and a science trait that gave all ships affected by your cruiser commands a mini-feedback pulse.

Xindi-Reptillian tac boff's space trait looks interesting. If it's strong enough it's possible my vesta/recluse/etc can drop one of their super-expensive attack pattern doffs.

Also the carrier looks really sweet and I hope it's good.

At the moment A2B s honestly pretty balanced; it has some big benefits, but is only useful for certain ships and crippling for most others, especially with the steady increase in stuff that keys off Aux power. What Cryptic's dislike forA2B really entails is that it's the only "endgame" duty officer build that doesn't require any investment beyond time, since anyone can eventually farm up some technicians from B'tran. Everything else requires rare and expensive purple duty officers from c-store packs (a notable example of the moment being attack pattern conn pfficers), and I'm positive this is the real reason why Cryptic keeps talking about killing it. The only reason they haven't is probably due to the dev team being overworked and it being a relatively low priority.

There needs to be some sort of cheap re-release of "high demand" doffs, but that will never ever loving happen.

Last time I checked there were literally NO Klingon AP Doffs in the exchange.

While not exactly what you're talking about, I did like the duty officer re-release that occurred with the ones that added damage against Elachi (for what little we see of them).

They did the energy weapon doffs for that, but not the AP doffs (which are the ones that are really important).

And while we're talking about bullshitty STFs, can someone explain how the gently caress you survive the second stage of Hive Onslaught Elite? If you charge "under the guns" you get ripped to pieces by the combined fire of the unimatrices and a fuckload of probes, and if you draw the probes away you waste huge amounts of time and then, once they're gone, the unimatrices pick you off like clay pigeons as you approach. I once saw a video tutorial with the team in tight formation whaling on a unimatrix from the front at 9.9km, which would have been completely impossible in the instance I tried because you're within easy gently caress-you distance (between knife-fight range and 20km) of the dildo ray.

Generally you just get under the guns and dps hard, stopping only for the Feedback Pulse (unless you can remove it). I've never really had a problem with that with well-geared goons.

EDIT: Feedback Pulse can really wreck you if you're not expecting it.

Going by the exchange prices, it doesn't look to be doing that either. Some people are rushing through, but once exchange prices crater (Thanks pubbies!) there won't be much of a reason to rush, or even do it at all. Crafting wasn't just a big undertaking by the devs, it was something PWE has been pushing for since they bought Cryptic so I'm curious what plan B is if the new "content" doesn't meet zen projections.

If it were me, Zen store catalysts that raise the chance of a particular mod showing up.

Also, Odo is part of the Great Link, so there's some friendly elements in the leadership structure.

It'd make a great "join your faction" mission too. The feds/klingons are getting their butts kicked by some Iconian pawns, but then you show up and they're like "Oh great :supaburn:" but then you're like "It's cool, Odo sent us :smug:" and you save them.

I still love how there are so many people that are so bad at this game that there are multiple individuals yelling and screaming in the balance thread as they demand Cryptic to force people to play tank ships and healer ships so their lovely escorts will stop dying.

Rarely do you see the Dunning–Kruger effect in such a clear form.

On one hand, this isn't such a bad thing because then there'd be considerations other than maximum DPS, on the other hand the odds of cryptic loving it up are 100%.

That would require redoing how science and engineering boffs work, and it is probably and unironically easier for Cryptic to make an entirely new bridge officer category in order to add new skills. :downs:

I'm pretty sure the "Attack Pattern Worf" and such are new skills, even if they don't do anything new. It's just that Cryptic wants to sell boff reserve slots.
