Cover Shields are essential to forum operation, somehow. And when Cryptic creates a workaround that allows people to log into the forums again, they will do so by breaking FAW so that it fires at all entities on a map on every server tic.

Oh yeah, designwise it's pretty generic. I wonder what they'll do about the other Krenim ships, since the ones we saw on the show looked absolutely nothing like it.

That said, don't knock the Benthan Cruiser, I like it. There spheres lend it a unique look, especially for a ship that was onscreen for literally three seconds. Although if we're going unique looks where's my drat Tarellian lockbox:

I second this, if only because the lack f a T6 ballship is a travesty.

The final ship to be released will have a trait that when it destroys another vessel, instead of undergoing the standard explosion the destroyed vessel will become a cloud of fireworks and balloons and rainbows.

I got this.

Like people have been saying, the best way to play STO is to not play it at all! Pretty sure I wouldn't have hit 60 playing casually since I stopped.

EDIT: My best ships were a JHEC and Fartcelsior. Is this better just by virtue of being T6?

AfroSquirrel

Are the escort carriers really that bad (especially the JHEC)? Once you've worked your way down the Pilot tree, it seems like they could get some nice benefits from the Wing Man skills.

Also, is the Iconian set worth losing a Fleet shield, or are those still the best?

Just occurred to me that Cryptic could handle the Omega's pet situation like a lockbox carrier. Classify a bunch of smaller, outmoded escorts ships as frigate pets and allow access if you own the C-Store version. Would work well for the Pilot ships in particular.

I'd be down for this, since Saber/Gladius frigate pets would be pretty cool.

If it says 'critical', 'damage', or 'speed/turn rate' it is good and you should take it. Also take the ground trait that lets you force push enemies off of the maps.

Oh, I guess you do! For some reason I thought T4 was the last free one.

Anyway! I'm thinking of just buying a T6 from the C-Store when I hit the appropriate level since up to this point STO has been very entertaining for like no money at all (except for what I apparently spent on cosmetic items like three+ years ago) but I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the choices. Should I just pick whatever T6 I think looks coolest, or are there any ships in particular that I should be looking at as a Federation engineer?

I think the two best choices for 'good ship and good trait' are the intel escort and the battlecruiser. The escort is an escort and gives a trait that reduces your cooldowns when enemies miss - which basically means that you don't need any other cooldown bonuses - and the battlecruiser has a 5/3 weapons loadout and a trait that increases the firing rate of your weapons.
