I had some form of sex ed three or four times going through school. Make the dumb religious prudes go watch a Disney movie while important life I formation is being handed out. I dread what kind of education my children will have.

I was listening to a podcast that likes to talk about the encryption poo poo and terrorists mostly use regular texts more than anything. That and just talking face to face or writing letters.

The Republican Party will tear itself apart if he gets the nomination. I've listened to people bring up specific examples of them turning on him already and it seems pretty likely to happen.

The affordable care act really hosed the working middle class. You're basically forced into taking what lovely insurance your employer offers or paying hundreds of dollars a month on lovely plans that have like 7000 dollar deductibles. If you're poor or just lie, you get decent enough care. Good thing the middle class barely exists now.

Try telling an old lady that she doesn't qualify for Medicaid because the social security she makes is like 100 dollars over the income limit and she has conditions she needs help with. So now she has to pick a plan that has a high deductible and still has to pay 200 a month but still doesn't cover anything because the law forces her to have some form of insurance. I have done this.

At this point most people should just buy a fake degree since very rarely does any potential employer check if you actually go to college. You can even pay to have fake transcripts made for you. I'm being completely serious here.

I know it wasn't the point of the segment but leaving a baby in the car is a loving crime. More so than the point he was trying to make.

Demiurge4 posted:Americans are pretty paranoid about that stuff. In Denmark its considered normal and courteous to leave your baby outside the window when you eat in a restaurant. A couple was arrested in America for doing this some years ago. Just cultural norms. There's also a 100% increase in the chance that your baby could be taken by a repo man if you leave it in the car.

Whenever I hear of a program using government money to fund a private business I just always assume the people running it are funneling money into their pockets somehow. Cause nobody gives a poo poo about the funny money that comes from taxes.

Anybody railing against socialism is a moron and probably old. Half the government programs they are enrolled in are socialist programs. Don't tell them that social security and Medicare are socialist programs they'll have an aneurism.

It's perfectly fine to not find him funny. Comedy is very subjective and pretending he isn't funny is dumb. This isn't Carlos Mencia. You have my permission to find your funny news elsewhere.

Just like most of the constitution, it was made during a time where you had horse and buggy and everyone was a rural farmer in the boonies. It needs to be updated for modern times but we've gotten to a point that we think the constitution is a sacred document that should not be touched like the 10 commandments.

Anything that brings attention to how much of a piece of poo poo Pence is always good. If it doesn’t matter since both books are donating to charity then the more attention being brought to fuckface is all the more sweeter. I have much more confidence in Oliver that the money is actually going to charity regardless of what the daughter says.

It would be nice to know how much of the profits from the book is really going to charity. Most of the time I hear stuff like that I assume it’s going to “administration” expenses for a charity they are tangentially affiliated with.

Been like that for years, the dirty secret the IRS doesn’t want people to know is filing taxes is totally voluntary. They had a great propaganda machine around the time of the Second World War that drilled into society that it’s their patriotic duty to pay taxes. Now it’s slipping as society starts hating itself and figuring out there is no consequences to not paying. It must have been a freakanomics episode that explains the very stupid way our taxes work. Participation was like 98% at one point and is now like 70 something and that’s kinda crazy.

I can’t find the specific podcast with a quick Google search but filing taxes is entirely voluntary, sure there’s a penalty for not paying, but they have to enforce it too. More and more people are starting to realize the IRS doesn’t have enough resources to do their job correctly.

# ¿ Apr 18, 2018 14:33 |
There’s no advice there, you should pay your taxes. And yes if your employer is filling taxes for income they gave you it’ll probably get noticed eventually. It may not seem like it but 3 years of not filing taxes is kinda a long time to notice when your employer is doing W2s.

Xealot posted:People constantly use this kind of language to describe tax law, and I find it so odd. "It's voluntary, but this government agency has the institutional power to prosecute you for not doing it." That's definitionally how laws work; "you can murder someone, but the police and court system may enforce a penalty if you do." I probably didn’t get it over that great the point is that people don’t think of taxes as their civic duty like they used to. It’s seen as the government stealing their hard earned money for moochers. Which leads to less people wanting to pay their taxes, which leads to the defunding of the IRS that actually enforced the law that makes people pay.

If people are able to pick their children’s genetics then you know the first thing that happens is a ton of white boys are born because society doesn’t like women or people of color. Then you end up with population problems like China and Japan.
