His show obviously does not suck, and I fully expect to tune in to HBO two years from now to still see him on the air.
i kind of just teared up a bit now thinking about this

This show is quite great and fun and evokes everything I ever liked about the daily show without (hopefully) becoming the repetitive slog that TDS now is. I'm happy with a half-hour a week if it stays at this quality, I can imagine kicking it up to an hour would take a lot more resources and dilute all them jokes.

I was honestly shocked that the entire show was basically two takes (split by "And Now, This").
Even with the interview? I thought the cuts there seemed a little drastic, and I would've assumed it was taken from a longer Q&A and cut down for broadcast (like previous interviews).

Either way, sounds impressive.

Here's the dog court full footage link that someone must be looking for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tug71xZL7yc

I didn't find it for a long time and it prevented me from being able to follow Humbug's advice. Eventually I did click on it, and my life was thusly improved.

Out of curiosity, is this something you work with professionally? It would've been nice to see the show go into a little more detail about what data gets sent over the wire from where.

It would be neat if this was something that the device manufacturers could have a hand in fixing as well, like the way Apple supposedly pushed on carriers during the introduction of Visual Voicemail.

I feel like there needs to be 3 parties. A left wing/liberal party, a right wing conservative party concerned with Capitalism and a separate party with all the crazy religious, abortion hating, "don't tread on me" militants
The only way a third party would make it in the US presidential race is if we adopted an alternative voting system like STV.

Until then, you only have a chance of being elected if you're under the banner of one of the two electable parties.

Even as a strong advocate of IRV/STV/*, having to "number all the boxes" is a pain in the rear end and sure way to drive people to copy off a list.

We use Choice Voting in San Francisco for a number of local offices and hosed if I know enough about who's running for Assessor-Recorder to make an informed decision about ranking my votes. (in reality that race is probably uncontested but you get me though, right?)

On the other hand, the ballots limit a maximum of three ranked choices (in a very paper-wasteful sort of way); for a Mayor's election I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to make ten weird ranked votes.

I'm sure there's some mathematical / ethical considerations weighing here, but I feel a decent system would allow you to rank as many candidates as you please with the understanding that your vote is wasted if they ALL get knocked out.

I thought it was on-par. "We agreed on one state, and it's Peru!" was a big laugh for me.

It would be nice to take a week off from Trump or Trump-adjacent issues sometime, but that's a problem with the universe right now as much as it is LWT.

To be fair, almost anybody who's 'pro choice' is also 'pro life.' I don't think you'll find any non-insane people who are specifically 'pro abortion.'
I grew up 'pro-life' but have definitely switched over to 'pro-abortion'. Especially after having my own kid and experiencing firsthand how challenging pregnancy and delivery can be. If you're not ready to raise a child, you should have the option to shut it down. It should probably be the preferred option.

Carrying the baby to term for adoption isn't a great option for many people. You get to experience all the pains and inconveniences of pregnancy and childbirth (having to take time off work for birth and recovery, permanently scarring or injuring your body) without even getting a baby out of it.

Contraception is a much better option than abortion because it's more convenient. But the abortion stigma should go away.

Honestly the worst part of all of these comedy shows drinking from the same well, pulling from the same pool of talent, and trying for the same sort of responsible political humor is that they all go after the same topics as they happen and they all go for the same jokes.
Kavanaugh Week was the worst for this, you could sync up the intro segment of LWT to the Samantha Bee show and probably also Colbert, Seth Meyers, Trevor Noah and the album Dark Side of the Moon.
