Lurdiak posted:I think it was a huge mistake to bring Norman back and retcon him into having been an evil guy even before he turned into the Goblin. We got some fun stories out of it but it essentially just turned the character into a generic evil businessman first and the Green Goblin second, and completely invalidated the emotional punch of all those old stories. It removes the tragedy inherent in the character. Wasn't disagreement over The Green Goblin's identity at least partially responsible for Steve Ditko leaving both Spider-Man and Marvel?

Ferrule posted:I can't stand comic movies - any of them, any universe - where the first drat thing that happens to the protagonist is their secret identity gets tossed right out the window. If they're playing it like it was with Miles, they share a dormitory together, kind hard to keep your identity secret from someone you sleep in the same room as every night.

Poor Miserable Gurgi posted:Peter Parker is the most recognizable comic book name behind Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne, so we likely won't see Miles in a movie until there's a Peter Spider-Man that sticks. It was probably a conscious choice to use the newer and less buried in continuity Miles origin and stick in Peter. Also, the cynical explanation of Peter being white, which produces still feel is a safer bet. Black Panther is the first non-white Marvel hero with his own movie, isn't he? And he's not even African-American. Blade

Mark Millar wrote UXM at the the start and for a good chunk, I don't think that book really went downhill until Kirkman started writing it, and I didn't even hate his stuff that much at the start of the run. Brian K. Vaughn wrote it for a bit and even Chuck loving Austen had a pretty good issue. Open Marriage Night posted:Ultimate Doom was terrible.
