I bought Irvine Welsh's latest book "A Decent Ride" and got it signed by the author while I was at it.

Also, I've seen DFA live twice – late last year and in 2011 – but I have to say they didn't exactly blow my mind. Probably fun in the moshpit but wasn't feeling it further out. Plus last time I saw them some oval office near me in the audience was farting throughout the set.

I'm still curious to hear how one meal from that posted menu corresponds to your monthly food budget given that 5 plates is 19.95 GBP = about 30,50 US dollars or 27 euros, rounded up. Do you live in rural Cambodia?

Was going to post this, just like integrating the keyboard into the screen cover it's stupid now but it will be a genius innovation when apple copies it in 2-3 years.

Can you post an example of this happening? Because I'd say it's been more like: Apple launches new concept -> nerds guffaw over how stupid it is -> it becomes successful and other manufacturers start producing copies -> nerds buy those and shift their focus onto "well this version is much better than the crApple one".

Being the first to do something well matters more than just being the first to do it. I'd rather pay more for a polished experience than a half-baked piece of poo poo – which isn't to say that the hinge discussed here is one, because I haven't tried it, but if you're going to make comments like that then you should be able to back them up.

Even at £40 you've paid over double what a Dickies work sweatshirt sells for simply because it has a huge Dickies logo on it. The Dickies online workwear store has plain sweatshirts for £14.

Presumably they want the logo and not a plain sweatshirt, though.

Dickies is like Carhartt – most Europeans (in places I've lived anyway) think of them more as fashion brands, and that has been the case for as long as I can remember. The traditional workwear stuff is also available from smaller specialist retailers, but the fashion items have different styling, different pricing, and they get sold through different channels.

I ordered one of these, arriving Thursday. Usually I am very wary of things that put their website address on their product being just expensive (170 eur) gimmicks, but the reviews for this thing seem pretty good. Originally I was looking for just a slowcooker, then started thinking maybe a pressure cooker would be nicer, and stumbled on the thing that claims it can do everything. We'll see.

I got one over the holidays and it's pretty rad. Makes chili way faster than my old slow cooker and I've come up with some new staples as well. Look up "perfect pressure cooked chicken and rice" from HipPressureCooking.

People doing the complaining would probably say that it's because vegans preach at you and cyclists are assholes in traffic.

However, since most vegans and cyclists I personally know are perfectly cool, I think it has more to do with vegans making carnivores feel guilty about their own habits and cyclists causing occasional delays of up to several seconds before you can overtake them.
