I don't know if anyone cares, but I decided to try my hand at running a contest. It's based around D&D 4th edition as a whole "new edition out today, let's not forget the old" thing as well as a pun of the 4th of July. So, if you're interested, I would love to see your entry. If there is something I did wrong rules-wise, don't be afraid to mention.

SunAndSpring posted:Wonder why no one's made an official The Elder Scrolls tabletop RPG. You figure there'd be money in it for Bethesda to license it out to someone. Skyrim sold a poo poo ton, and I'm sure people would like to have an actual system for it rather than just homebrewing other systems. Besthada makes video games, not trpgs. The skills, when it comes to math and mechanics, might not be transferable so they'd either license it or hire people. Then, at the end of the day, they'd make less than 1/40th of what they'd make if they put the funds into making a new elder scrolls game. It's just not a prudent investment. Besides, you don't really need an official game to play the setting really. I feel emulating the game's mechanics into a tabletop game would probably bog things down since the video game is made with the assumption that the computer is handling the math.

What are the big days for traditional gaming? You know, like Free RPG day and International Tabletop Day? I'm treasurer for my college's board gaming club and I'm thinking of using the facebook page our members subscribed to to inform them of things like this.

Also doing one off adventure nights using PnP starter adventures when new games come out and stuff. We technically focus more on board games than TRPGs, but this might be a really cool idea. I could propose it during the first meeting of the year. When is Gencon exactly?

But I suppose I could use the page to recruit for online games of board games and rpgs, perhaps during that time especially, to remind members we exist. Perhaps do that throughout next summer to keep our brand alive while we are not in operation...sorry, I'm in a business school so I say things with that jargon.

Mr. Maltose posted:To connect Sage and X-Crawl, Dungeon World is a great system for X-Crawl because of how momentum builds up via 7-9s and the ease of making Signature Moves by just saying how you do them. Funny you should say that. Last week, I started running an X-Crawl game using Dungeon World. That said, I never actually read X-Crawl or even the F&F review of it. It was sort-of a last minute, "poo poo, I might have a good premade adventure, but drat it's story milquetoast. Let's liven it up." So, it's pretty much just based on the most basic concept of Dungeon Crawling gameshow.
