I've been having fun reading through a bunch of this old thread (not to mention the yearly month of game writeups :)). I mostly enjoy a light to moderate level of spooks in my own games, playing through Alan Wake right now (which I'd skipped back in the day) and that seems to hit just about right. Plenty of atmosphere, but mostly leaning towards unsettling more than out-and-out horrifying. Good stuff for the leadup to :spooky: day.

e: by far the scariest thing is how bad I am at the game :ghost:

How tough is Bloodborne anyway? I've been curious about it for a while but kinda lumped it in with the Dark Souls-esque "too tough to bother with" crowd, but that could easily be a wrong impression that just got stuck in my head. If it has a good range of selectable difficulties I'd actually look at picking it up.

I liked getting an achievement for one of the Ada sections in RE2make, getting through without firing a shot. I didn't even know it was a thing, I'd just gotten tired of fighting and dying so just ran around juking everything, then it popped up at the end and :hellyeah: I'm a badass

Oh cool, how confirmed is RE3Make? (e: R3make? REmak3?) From what I'm seeing, likely but not completely confirmed?
I hope it's real, RE2 took a game I couldn't play even back in the day and made it a solid second best in the series, I never even touched 3 so I'd love to see it in a style I can actually enjoy.

How do folks feel about the Call of Cthulhu game? It's $12 on the winter PSN sale (and probably for other systems too), not too bad a price to try it out at.

I don't think I was consciously aware of what that one is, definitely adding it to my list if I can get it a bit cheaper. My research on Call of Cthulhu basically went as far as looking at the winter sale games and thinking "ooh, neat".

Yeah I'm a little worried about that. I was super hyped since RE2 was the only old-school game I tried in the series, so this one was gonna be pretty much a complete unknown following off a great reimagining. But I don't want to deal with monsters sneaking into my safe areas :arghfist::saddowns:
