What was the deal with the armpit webs Spidey had in his original costume? Were they functional in anyway?

Is there an actual term for that style of headgear?

DC's long term refusal to change that absurd cupcake costume for so long against all reason is so bizarre.

Sorry, I gotta invoke the Ebert Clause on this one.

What also irritated me about Power Girl's uni is that they would try to come up with all these kayfabe reasons why she had it in response to the criticism of it.

I liked the Captain From Everywhere Corps from the Ultimates 2.

Here's your supersuit done up like your country's flag. Oh sorry Captain France that was Captain Netherland's costume we were holding it sideways.

There was an alien costume making machine in Secret Wars, which Charles Xavier showed off for like three pages.

I'd never heard of this guy so I looked him up on Wiki. drat, he sucks! He gets injured, then he gets injured, then he gets injured, then he becomes Thor! Then he decides being Thor is more important than raising his son, so he leaves him with his ex-wife despite her having little interest in raising a child. Then he stops being Thor! But then he becomes Thor. But then he stops being Thor, and Thor gets banished, and this guy becomes Thor again.

Yeah he's also the Thor that ends up in Infinity Gauntlet :jerkbag:

I really hated that switch they made in Astonishing X-Men #1. "We have to astonish them with these butt-ugly costumes... because the marketing people need us in individual costumes to sell toys and Underoos." OTOH, Quitely's uniforms never looked as good drawn by anyone else.

I don't know that AXM sold a lot of toys. I got that as more of them getting away from the boring black leather costumes (which I think they even said) and doing something more comic book-y and truer to their roots.

What do people think of the Phoenix Five costumes from AvX?

Servoret posted:

Not really toys specifically, so much as licensed images that they could also use for video games and everything else. If they wanted to be true to the X-Men's roots, they would have kept them in the standardized black and yellow uniforms.

I didn't like the Phoenix Five costumes either, especially Emma's golden stripper outfit and Scott's hawk beak visor thing.

That's more clothes than Emma's ever worn before!

I'm a big fan of Magik's post AvX costume. I don't know what those head things are but they work for me.

I'll lead off with Lady Mastermind

I think Bachalo is behind a lot of the modern worst offenders. I said I like Magik's costume but I kinda wish the leggings were connected to the absurdly short hot pants she's wearing.

At some point, when you are trying to achieve that much efficiency with so little artistic merit, why are you even a comic book artist anymore?

Apparently he never misses a deadline.

What I hate most about him is that the facial expressions never make sense within the context of what's happening. All these huge fake model smiles, and yes I know that's because that's what he's tracing, but it's just soooo loving dumb.

Venom's new look.

Also is this Venom in Cosmic thing going to be semi-permanent or are they just enjoying loving around before they blow the whole thing up? I'm not reading the book but I've seen scans of Venom-rocket and Venom-groot.

Dunno. Since he's hanging with the Guardians I'd assume he has access to decent prostheitcs, as long as Rocket doesn't need them for a scheme.
