I'm just a total piece of shit and I'm not sure why I keep posting on this site. Christ, I have spent years with idiots giving me bad advice about online dating and haven't noticed that the thread I'm in selects for people that can't talk to people worth a damn.
every time i see this thread update i figure "i should see my team" and then remember that its done manually

I have a script to do it but you need to be on Linux/Mac or have Cygwin to run it on Windows. Actually it could be completely automated but I haven't figure out how to get the CSV format scoring from hockey reference (here) without actually clicking the stupid CSV button and copy&pasting it.

Anyway, if you have the overwhelming patience, this is what you need to do. Save a file with all of your team's players and their salaries, separated by a comma, e.g. Evgeny Kuznetsov,$900000 to "team1.txt". Then copy skater and goalie stats in CSV format from hockey-reference, save them into files called "scoring.txt" and "goalies.txt", and run this script in the same directory you saved your files:

code:
/usr/bin/sort.exe -t , -k 1,1 team1.txt > team1.csv
/usr/bin/sort.exe -t , -k 2,2 scoring.txt > scoring.csv
/usr/bin/sort.exe -t , -k 2,2 goalies.txt > goalies.csv
join -t , -1 1 -2 2 -o 1.1 1.2 2.3 2.4 2.5 2.6 2.7 2.8 2.9 2.10 2.11 2.12 2.13 2.14 2.18 2.19 2.20 2.21 2.22 team1.csv scoring.csv > team1stats.csv
join -t , -1 1 -2 2 -o 1.1 1.2 2.3 2.4 2.5 2.6 2.7 2.8 2.9 2.10 2.11 2.12 2.13 2.14 2.15 2.16 team1.csv goalies.csv >> team1stats.csv
And voila, you get a csv with your player's stats that you can load into excel or whatever. Replace /usr/bin/sort.exe with just plain sort on Linux/Macs.

The Sharks could be that Champion.

Aw thanks. I've entered about 20 teams and I'm stoked about how good mine was.

What should we do for the additional players? Not all teams went to 30, and even then you've got farm teams in EHL. I'm thinking we just have whoever is on the actual farm team on each team go to our teams (ie I would get Chicago farm players who others didn't take).

Also, turn off GM actions, obviously?

I should have some initial results soon. I'll post the roster file too.

My team is okay. I thought RNH would take a bigger step, but Huberdeau rebounded nicely. Strome was also a nice pick. Other than Weber and Vlasic, my D is a mess. My team would look a lot better if I took Plekanec over Semin, which looks hilariously awful in retrospect.

My scrappy team might look better in a few years with some more development of some of the young players. Steve Mason actually has solid starter numbers.

Edit: actually looking at the fancy stats I drafted a lot of puck moving defenseman with really good possession numbers. I'll just grind out goals.

It was a choice between Plek and Semin for me, and I chose the wrong one.

Plekanec would be useful on your team of young studs listed as centers but actually playing wing, but I think your bigger error was only drafting two and a half good defensemen (with all due respect to the Clitsome one).

Well, this team scored more goals than Arizona and Buffalo. They might have done better with more icetime but would not have made the playoffs without miraculous coaching and Calgary/Colorado-level luck. To be fair, they also got more than 2 assists/goal, which is impossible so there is hope. Wennberg showed some promise after a godawful start to the season and Draisaitl is tearing up juniors. Mantha, Ritchie and Kerdiles are doing okay in the A/juniors, but I could use a left winger with more talent than Nick Ritchie. Hutchinson cooled off significantly and got outplayed by Ondrej loving Pavelec (wtf), while Lehner sucked and got injured before the miraculous run of Andrew Hammond. On the plus side, Jon Gillies was possibly the best goalie in the NCAA so maybe he'll turn out to be something.

Give me Mitch Marner plz and the best UFAs that $15 million can buy.

Well, that certainly is a team. They would've had the 2nd best offence in the NHL this year (one goal behind the Lightning) and would be the 3rd most penalized team at the same time. The defence was incredible amassing a staggering 60 goals and 199 points, so I'm going to assume my powerplay was pretty incredible as well. Injuries to Seguin and Steen were damaging, but I didn't have any big name players missing long term.

My goaltending was lights out with Schneider in net and Curtis McE rebounded after a slow start to put up excellent numbers for a backup. My offence was extremely balanced with 7 players putting up 40 or more points including two defencemen. The future is bright too with Gallagher, Horvat, Ristolainen and (later in the season) TT playing significant minutes. Bolland turned out to be a flop but who cares with Seguin/Steen, Perrault and Horvat as my other centres. His rear end will likely be bought out in the summer.

Overall, I think my team made the playoffs and probably challenged for the Metro Divison title. My offence was great, my goaltending was excellent and even if my defence was so-so it contributed a substantial amount of secondary scoring. Penalties need to be toned down, but a lot of those come from my 4th line of Roussel, Wilson and Rinaldo who would have been given carte blanche to agitate and fight to their heart's content.

They had a slow first half, but this team evolved into what I wanted when I drafted it. Young, fast, high scoring with just enough dirty play to keep things interesting. I opposing fans would love to hate my team, but that's what I was going for.

Go SAS Fantasy Draft Jackets! Next stop, imaginary Stanley Cup.

I think it's probably a playoff team with the goaltending and obviously the future owns although as GMGM I may have ended up trading a few prospects for another center and a D or two.

e: scored 216 GF with Ekane out and literally no points from the second line center (in the imaginary world one of Reinhart/Bennett were gonna play), although I suppose Gomez's numbers sort of figure there too with how much TOI the Devils gave him.

The Flyers pretty much own. I think the goaltending would be better with Grubauer up in the NHL and Bernier playing behind this defense rather than the Maple Leafs. The defense was absolutely fantastic this season, mostly on the offensive side but they're also not bad in their own zone either. Also it seems that for the most part, aside from Gostisbehere and Clowe pretty much everyone stayed healthy. I think they have a shot at the Stanley Cup.

We have the capability to make San Jose's first Cup Champion.

Wha' happen?

I entered all teams into the extract spreadsheet, and fixed the farm teams. Then I learned you can't import from that, there's some other totally different spreadsheet to use. Got discouraged, haven't touched EHM since.

It's been weighing on my mind, so when I have a chance I'll figure out how to convert the data, unless someone else wants to.

Since most UFA's have been signed, should we do one of these again? I can start a new thread.

It would be cool to do a mock entry draft so in 5 years some random scrub picked in the 7th round becomes a PPG star and someone's all smug about it.

Or like me and the real life mtl canadiens, got a steal in Carey Price and surrounded him with a garbage fire

Yeah, I'm in again.

(Also, still need a few people to fill out our new keeper league so we can draft over the summer. If interested, join. Thread is here in armchair qb.)

Are we going to do anything with it this year like plug it into EHM or NHL 16 and see what happens? Its been fun to draft the last couple years, but ultimately its felt pointless when we just say "well that was fun" then sporadically look at how our individual players did in the real NHL.

It's a postmodern expression of existential ennui.

It seems like it'd be easier to put it into ehm on an ongoing basis than to do it after the fact.
