Congress just got photos from inside of Caro's last known 5 star Syrian resort and spa. You are a loving idiot if you click that at work, though it is an official U.S. Government website so not sure if it's technically not allowed to be viewed on most of our work computers here.  There's no way a heaven or hell exists, and if it did, it clearly overflowed into Syria.

I earnestly contacted every single person and agency I could think of to try and stop that moron from that poo poo. As a stabilized crazy person I had a soft spot for Caro, and sincerely didn't want the horrors that happened to him to occur. I stopped believing in god 2 wars ago, but when I see poo poo like this I say a little silent prayer that he's found peace in something of an afterlife. This is at least partially NPR's fault, they interviewed the guy and played up his "helping" of the Libyan rebels and probably made him feel like a big drat hero before he went over to get murked by the Syrians. Not mentioned in the report: his schizophrenia.

From the little that we know he apparently got picked up by the Syrian government and tossed into the hellhole that Shim posted pictures of. From the thirdhand info that we've gotten, someone saw him in there last year and reported that he was more or less on his last legs. So he was starved/beaten/tortured to death by Assad's people, not starved/beaten/tortured to death by ISIS.

Thats the thing, Caro is what every DnD poster aspires in their heart of hearts to be. A person who goes out and fights the evils of the world with no concern for the unjust laws of empires. Being in a warzone where he was getting actively shot at in Libya didn't get him off the internet. He gets into Syria and then makes no further contact with anyone for over two years now. There is no way that he is doing anything of his own free will IF he is alive. We don't know anything 100% for certain, but reasonable assumptions are being made here. It's not ideal, but he didn't vanish into thin air. He met an extremely unfortunate end, and call me a human being if you want but that breaks my goddamn heart into a million pieces.
