Going to be playing Stalker: Call of Pripyat for the first time. Oh boy!
Stalker turned out to be way too much, playing Ravensword: Shadowlands now. This should be awful.

Stream over. That was fun.

So I'm thinking of switching over from Hitbox to Twitch, mainly in the interest of getting more traffic. I've used Skyps screen sharing in the past to mitigate delay for co-commentators, but that tends to get very artifacty. Can anyone recommend a decent screensharing program for just this purpose?

I've looked for alternatives and if you want low delay, your best bet is Skype right now.

And just how much of a delay are we looking at with alternatives, if those have better video quality?

I'm a good streamer. That's why you're voting on the game today, between the following options:

Paper Mario (Which nobody shows up for)
The Last Story (Which some people showed up for)
No More Heroes (Which I haven't streamed yet)
Tales of Xillia (Which barely anyone shows up for)
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (Which I'll need to do a bit of extra setup for)

Try setting up a poll on Strawpoll.

2. Everyone is trying to go for a "chill vibe", rather than have any energy or enthusiasm behind their streams whatsoever. I consider this more an excuse: it's compensation for a direct lack of charisma or a direct lack of wanting to output energy and add something to the game altogether. It's not fun for me to see people go through the motions while they're clearly bored.

Slur posted:

I popped into your streams, Roar, more than once for a period of time, mainly because you were playing Crystalis (an interesting cult-classic game which isn't normally streamed) or I wanted to throw in some song requests. You're good about talking to your viewers every so often, and keeping people engaged. However, I can't watch one of your streams from front to back because I generally get bored of the "chill vibe"; there's only so much Sunn O))) I can take before wanting to listen to some of The Ramones. The same goes for most goon streamers on here: show some enthusiasm. Do something new. Be ambitious. I've been trying to do this for the past few weeks now. The numbers may not be growing, but I can guarantee I've brought a smile to one or two people's faces because I've successfully entertained them that evening.

"You're streaming wrong. Stop being chill, chill is just some smoke and mirrors bullshit that you made up."

It's times like these that I'm glad Roar beat you to making this thread.

He doesn't like me bringing this up, but I figure there's no better time to show just how tough on chilling Slur is.

Slur was once a frequent guest of mine on stream. This lasted until a Fable 3 stream where I hosed around, farted on peasants, made pies, fathered children - all the sorts of things that you do in a Fable game to have fun. However, Slur was having none of this and kept badgering me, on call, to do the main questline, which...well, it's kind of middling at best, but it wasn't my idea of fun either. I tried to tell him several times that I'd rather just keep doing what I was doing, and he would not drop it.

Slur is no longer part of my streams.

There's all kinds of audiences out there. Some like people who fall asleep during Dead Rising 7 Day Survivor attempts. Others apparently like meticulous explanations of game-mechanics in strategy RPG games. There's no real reason to try and appeal to any one group beyond personal preference (unless streaming is your livelihood).

This is just a matter of opinion and not fact, I feel. It's not like Slur's mentioned any objective complaints, like regarding the choppiness of a stream's frame rate or microphone quality. He just doesn't like streams where people have fun and don't discuss the game and instead just joke around and make jabs at each other, and don't engage their viewers in a gentle manner. And it's alright that he doesn't like that and instead prefers his own style of streaming.

Except the point of his post was to try and paint the style he doesn't like as inferior. Chill streaming is just a crutch for non-charismatic people. Playing popular games is a thing only witless, monkey-see monkey-do apes would do. Your stream has no worth unless you're an entertainer. CHILLING IS FOR THE WEAK. YOUR FAILURE TO REQUEST THE RAMONES IS YOUR FAILURE TO RETAIN MY VIEWERSHIP.

Actually, I was thinking about something: we should be posting other people's streams, on-site or off-site. We can potentially find tons of good streamers to watch, and new talents all around. I'm personally becoming a very big fan of those people who do art streams and show themselves off making commissions or cool art. Some of that includes some pretty impressive video game related art.

Linking cool streams/streamers we've found is definitely a nice idea, though I have to agree with Pyroi that art streams are just too far outside the scope of LP.

As for streamers I personally like, Sips is one. He's got great energy. Check him out why not?

Streaming more Pokemon Platinum Randomizer!

And on that note, I too will be randomizing the Pokemons tonight. It was actually The T who made me want to do it. Since I've had crashy issues with Pokemon Randomizer runs in the past, I've got a specific setup: I've got two randomized games from each generation on hand. For example, we have Blue and Yellow in the first gen. If Blue fails, we jump up to Yellow so as to at least be less disappointed since we're playing an improved game. If Yellow fails, we jump up to Gold. If Gold fails, we jump up Crystal, and so on, and so forth. Hopefully, though, this will be a progression through the series.

As such, we're starting with Pokemon Blue.

That plan didn't last very long at all.
