i haven't been there in at least a couple years... there's never been much reason to, except for curiosity. all this time i've been using spotlight or the dock to find what i need. the applications folder was a mess. apps that are powerPC only, tons of games not in the games folder, etc. i had to authenticate with a password each time i dragged an app to a subfolder which i thought was a little tedious do any of you navigate the applications folder? i was just doing it out of curiosity. lots of stuff i didn't realize was on my mac including bittorrent. don't remember needing to get a torrent of anything

is that like program files how can u just moce poo poo does the osx just know u moved it and all is well? also it's like the engine bay of a car. never open it just pray it works tomorrow when u gotta go to work

Most OS X programs are in self-contained app bundles so the app doesn't give a poo poo where the bundle is.

so how do you run the program? do you essentially search for it everytime like if u had safari on your go-to bar but moved the directory would that icon still work??!!
|
# ? Aug 7, 2014 09:47 |

if you put it in some weirdo place for what is probably some edge case sperglord reason instead of putting it in /Applications, then you just do Cmd-Space and type in the name of the program if you moved something important like safari then the OS would probably get confused but OS X can actually keep track of moved files.

the os is a pos, and there's no user at the desk and the trashcans are all muddied with a thousand lonely animes and a dark winblows the file system is corrupt and we're on so many kexts with the expose on and the windowshades drawn we're trapped in the belly of this funy computer and the computer is bleeding to death the magic mouse has fallen down and the cinema displays are all leering and the icons are all question marks at the end of the dock it went like this: the folders tumbled in on themselves mothers clutching ipads picked through the app store and pulled out their hair the desktop was beautiful on fire all twisted icons stretching upwards everything washed in a pinstripe haze i said text me, youre beautiful these are truly the last days you grabbed my hand and we fell into it like a daydream or a f.lux we woke up one morning and fell a little further down for sure its the valley of death i open up my applications folder and its full of blood

command space is so useful becuase mousing on a tragic trackpad is not good in 10.10 though it doesn't put the last launched application on top though, so if you type "disk" enter it will just do something else than the disk utility.

the self-contained apps are really just folders, too. so you can look inside them. but they are read-only. the other thing to get used to is since they are read-only, all other data is saved in another folder called Application Support. kind of like how some windows apps put config files in App Data or my documents.
