Then, leave a shoe and your driver's licence on a bridge and go into hiding for a few days. OP, if you're serious about getting a job in film, especially screenwriting, you need to be building a reel of short films by, like, yesterday. Luckily it's easy to shoot your own stuff these days, and there should be plenty of unemployed film crew folks around who'll want to work on a production. And Florida isn't a black hole where movies aren't made. About 1/5th of the time people get sent to productions in Nowhere, Florida for tax reasons. It's the only way you'll get your name out there and have a reel to show. Set experience means way more than film school. Film is a haven for 26-year-old alcoholics.

Couldn't you get this girl pregnant? Then get married and you have a good reason to drop out of the police academy, to help your wife with the pregnancy. Your parents would be more understanding (parents love grandbabies), you're getting married so it looks like there's stability in your life and they'll probably think you'll want to provide for the kid or something so they'll be more willing to support you while the two of you get on your feet.

Being a screenwriter is not really the same thing as working in the film industry. I assume you don't even know the proper formatting to write a screenplay- but actually writing a screenplay is the first step towards becoming a screenwriter. Even if you found a connection in the publishing world- what good would that do? Screenplays don't get published. I don't know- write a screenplay. It will suck if you've never done it before (even if your prose is amazing) but you have to write the first one sometime. Have you considered that you might not have the skill or will power to be what you want to be? Maybe you should just learn how to be happy with what you are. The first step is acceptance.
