OP, if you're serious about getting a job in film, especially screenwriting, you need to be building a reel of short films by, like, yesterday. Luckily it's easy to shoot your own stuff these days, and there should be plenty of unemployed film crew folks around who'll want to work on a production. And Florida isn't a black hole where movies aren't made. About 1/5th of the time people get sent to productions in Nowhere, Florida for tax reasons. It's the only way you'll get your name out there and have a reel to show. Set experience means way more than film school. Film is a haven for 26-year-old alcoholics.
