Being a screenwriter is not really the same thing as working in the film industry. I assume you don't even know the proper formatting to write a screenplay- but actually writing a screenplay is the first step towards becoming a screenwriter. Even if you found a connection in the publishing world- what good would that do? Screenplays don't get published. I don't know- write a screenplay. It will suck if you've never done it before (even if your prose is amazing) but you have to write the first one sometime. Have you considered that you might not have the skill or will power to be what you want to be?
Maybe you should just learn how to be happy with what you are. The first step is acceptance.
