Red_October_7000 posted:If I remember what I've read correctly, in Japan anal is treated differently to vaginal (I think that only vaginal sex is illegal as prostitution in Japan, but that it's available in a roundabout fashion for more or less the same reason the Manhattan telephone directory has about a hundred pages of "escort services"). Is anal sex legally distinct from vaginal in Australia? And what the hell kind of person thinks they need to be so? Well, I know that laws on prostitution vary from state to state... Brothels are legal in NSW, VIC and apparently Queensland. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Australia). Huh. Apparently it's illegal to advertise anal in NSW, but presumably there's no restriction on actually doing it (and how on earth would they enforce it anyway?) I get the impression that the "no vaginal sex" thing is a business decision rather than a legal one in this case, though, right?

Captain Mog posted:I don't necessarily have any issue with legalized prostitution (or capitalism? but I'm gay so I do maybe have a personal problem with sex with women). I just wanted to hear what his answer to a question like that would be. He said he was open to questions related to feminism so I don't see how that was such an odd thing to ask and I also didn't realize certain things were off-limits in a thread about prostitution. Well, you clearly haven't read the thread, because Poopy's a lady, not a guy.

Big Bad Voodoo Lou posted:It sounds like Australia is a very sex-positive and progressive country, compared to the United States. Bear in mind, this varies from state to state. NSW's prostitution laws are even more progressive than Victoria's (where the OP's brothel is), but as far as I know the other states are much more regressive.

Arnold of Soissons posted:A bunch of young women, as their only opportunity for legal employment in the field, are forced by industry wide standards to accept the disadvantageous position of paying to rent a room in someone's business while paying disadvantageous contractor tax rates, which fees are the only source of funding for your own (normal, non-contractor) paycheck. Jesus christ, did she dump you for them?
