puter programmers who call themselves "Software Craftsmen"[4] will use excercises, often similar to this one, called 'Kata'[5] repeatedly, often daily, in order to practise their craft, much like a soldier, a musician, a doctor or a dancer would repeat excercises or movements to practice theirs.[6]

EVERY MORNING I WAKE UP AND OPEN PALM SLAM A VIM TERMINAL ONTO THE DESKTOP. ITS FIZZBUZZ AND RIGHT THEN AND THERE I START TYPING THE CODE ALONGSIDE WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER, DAVE THOMAS. I TYPE EVERY LINE AND I TYPE EVERY LINE HARD. MAKIN WHOOSHING SOUNDS WHEN I SLAM DOWN SOME UNIT TESTS OR EVEN WHEN I MESS UP SYNTAX. NOT MANY CAN SAY THEY ESCAPED THE GALAXY’S MOST DANGEROUS INTERVIEW QUESTION. I CAN. I SAY IT AND I SAY IT OUTLOUD EVERYDAY TO PEOPLE IN MY STARTUP AND ALL THEY DO IS PROVE PEOPLE IN STARTUPS CAN STILL BE IMMATURE JERKS. AND IVE LEARNED ALL THE REQUIREMENTS AND IVE LEARNED HOW TO MAKE MYSELF AND MY APARTMENT LESS LONELY BY SHOUTING EM ALL. 2 HOURS INCLUDING WIND DOWN EVERY MORNING

actually deadass if i were cs prof or high school teacher or whatever i would teach recursion by bringing in a huge towers of hanoi which let me move the poles around and have the class solve a few and then work on understanding the recursive nature of the problem by moving the poles around
